Glass House mourns killing of Ibrahim Abubakar





Nigerians wake up Wednesday morning to the news that the Head of Protocol at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Mr. Ibrahim Abubakar has been killed by unknown gun men at his residence in Abuja, reports ITRealms.

According to the official NFF Twitter handle, ‘thenff,’ “NFF’s Head of Protocol Ibrahim Abubakar was shot dead by armed robbers in his house in Abuja in the early hours of today.”

As at the time of this report, ITRealms gathered that Abubakar’s remains was being arranged for final rites of burial in Kaduna in line with Islamic ceremonies.

The Nigeria Police Force is yet to make any official statement over the killing of Mr. Abubakar, even as the Glass House headquarters of NFF has been besieged with condolences.

ITRealms reports that Abubakar, 43, was reportedly brutally murdered in cold blood by dare-devil armed robbers in his home at Kado Estate near Gwarinpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi expressed surprise on the sudden death of Abubakar who was full of life the previous day, Tuesday at work.

"He was full of life when he left the office yesterday; the Federation has lost a dedicated and assiduous staff. This is so painful," he said.

Meanwhile, the Sports and Youth Minister Barr Solomon Dalung, Wednesday afternoon paid a condolence visit to the Glass House, secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the death of its Head of Protocol, Ibrahim Abubakar.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Christian Ohaa and other top officers , they were received by the Deputy General Secretary of the NFF, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme at the Glass house.

Abubakar popularly known as 'Ibro' joined the Nigeria Football Federation in 2007 and was survived by a wife and three boys.
