Muazu, PDP national chairman out, Secondus, his deputy, in

The national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Muazu has resigned even as the Deputy Prince Uche Secondus has stepped into his shoes as the new chairman for now, ITRealms reports.

Information filtering into ITRealms newsroom indicates that the resignation is with immediate effect and based on health grounds.

The source, ITRealms learnt, also informed that the President Goodluck Jonathan has asked the chairman of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Anthony Anenih to resign his office as the BOT chairman. But it is not known ifAnenih has accepted.

In a letter he addressed to the Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Muazu, noted that in the face of the abysmal performance of the party during the March 28 Presidential election, it has become necessary for him to throw in the towelfor peace to reign in the PDP, ITRealms gathered.

Accordingly, he asked Secondus to step in as acting National Chairman in line with the party’s constitution. Meanwhile, the leadership of the party is holding a National Working Committee,NWC meeting on the former chairman’s resignation, ITRealms learnt.
