PDP law suit: MTN refutes violation of operating license

Leading mobile communications company in the country, MTN Nigeria has refuted violation of its operating license on the Investigative Panel (IP) over the 2010 Appeal Court contest of gubernatorial election results in Osun State by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

ITRealms Online gathered that MTN’s attention was drawn to reports in the media over a lawsuit purportedly instituted against mobile operator by the former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to revoke MTN’s license.

Commenting, MTN’s Corporate Services Executive, Mr. Akinwale Goodluck, noted that the company was yet to be served with court processes related to the matter.

Also, he stated that MTN did not in any way act contrary to the terms and conditions of its operating license with respect to the Investigative Panel (IP) set up by the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the 2010 Appeal Court contest of gubernatorial election results in Osun State.

“We are constrained to speak on this issue because we are yet to be served with any court summons. When this is done, we will respond appropriately. Suffice it to say that MTN has a stellar reputation for ethical conduct,” he declared, adding that MTN took grave exception to any insinuation of unethical or improper conduct against us.

MTN, he insisted, acted responsibly at all times, and in accordance with relevant laws, stressing that this unshakeable corporate principle guided its actions.

“Indeed, we provided all the necessary records to the requisite security agencies in accordance with laid down procedure,” he said.

As said by Mr. Goodluck MTN is apolitical and non-partisan hence it has no reason or motivation to act in any unethical or untoward manner as alleged.
