RIM unveils 2 torch smartphones


The commercial nerve centre of the country, Lagos, recently played host to the unveiling of two torch series of Blackberry phones, manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM) Limited.

Introducing the two new Blackberry Torch 9860 and 9810 respectively, the Regional Director at RIM, Mr. Waldi Wepener, said that Blackberry solution offers a best-in-class mobile communications experience that customers love.

“We think they will be thrilled by the faster performance, enhanced browsing and richer multimedia delivered by these powerful new Blackberry torch smartphones,” he said.

Wepener also said that the launch of these phones in Nigeria was the significant RIM has attached to the Nigerian mobile market.

He said that both phones come with Blackberry 7 Operating System (OS).

He explained that Blackberry torch 9860 smartphone offers fast and fluid performance in a stylish new 
all-touch design.

“With a spectacular new 3.7 inches display, the largest ever on a Blackberry smartphone,” he said.

Additionally, he said, the new all-touch Blackberry torch 9860 is optimized for high-quality multimedia, web browsing and gaming.

Blackberry torch 9860, he said, delivers the expected industry-led real-time communications and collaboration experience that is exciting to millions of smartphone users across the globe.

For the Blackberry torch 9810, Wepener described it as a powerful evolution of the original Blackberry torch 9800 model.

“The new model is faster and more fluid with high performance hardware features and the new Blackberry 7 OS delivering an enhanced multimedia experience,” he said.

According to him, with feature like the large 3.2” coupled with high resolution touch display and a distinctive keyboard that ushers ease slides, thereby allowing fast typing, the Blackberry torch 9810 truly delivers the best of both world.

These new Blackberry 7-based smartphones, he said, would be made available from local carrier partners, namely Airtel, Globacom, Etisalat and MTN Nigeria.
