Galaxy Backbone to launch ICT Road Show geo-zones

Galaxy Backbone has plans to embark on a series of public awareness and enlightenment programmes designed to create awareness about the company and the role of digital inclusion for sub-national development.

Manager, Corporate Communication, Galaxy Backbone, Mr. Franklyn Ginger-Eke, said that the series tagged, “Galaxy Backbone Zonal ICT Road Show” is part of the company’s stakeholders’ engagement strategy for creating focused public awareness about its activities by enlightening and sensitizing its stakeholders across the six geo-political zones.

This, he said, would boost the role of ICTs in attainment of the developmental programmes of the various State Governments in Nigeria. According to him, the overarching theme of the zonal ICT road show is, “Partnering with State Governments for Digital Inclusion.”

He noted that Galaxy Backbone is a Federal Government owned company established in 2006 and whose primary mandate is the provision of ICT infrastructure and services to the public sector as well as the digital inclusion of underserved communities and locations in Nigeria.

The format of the road show planned to kick-off in October, he said, includes the paying of courtesy visits to the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum of each zone.

Additionally, he said, the commissioning of Galaxy Backbone ICT centre initiatives and an ICT Infrastructure forum to further strengthen the company’s focus on driving digital inclusion of underserved communities and locations in the country.

He explained that the target audience at “The 1st Zonal ICT infrastructure Forum” includes the representatives of the State Governments namely; secretaries to the state governments, state commissioners, permanent secretaries, special advisers cum assistants to the State Governors on ICTs, Heads of State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Heads of ICT functions, LGAs to name a few.

Others, he said, comprise policy makers and key state functionaries drawn from government ministries and agencies which require the use ICT to achieve integration of functions, accountability and improve efficiency.
