Glo introduces direct debit payment for subscribers

Globacom has introduced the option of direct debit for its subscribers into its Nigerian market.

This the operator said, is unlike in the past where payments could only be made through Easy-pay, cheque or cash at ETB branches or Gloworlds, the new direct debit method allows subscribers on the post-paid platform to pay their bills directly through their bank accounts, thus avoiding the problems of disconnection due to unpaid bills.

Customers, Glo said, could collect the activation forms from the nearest Gloworld, get it endorsed by their banks and return them.

Alternatively, official of Glo said, interested subscribers to send “YES” to a free short code (30008) so they could be contacted by telemarketers who would inform them of the benefits and process of registering for the service.

As part of the package, Glo is offering 25 free Glo-to-Glo SMS per month for three months for subscribers who opt for this mode of payment after registering for the service.

According to a press statement from the company, the direct debit method offers great flexibility for corporate and individual subscribers who appreciate the convenience it offers.

Glo further said that the direct debit option is a smarter method of paying bills by subscribers.

“It means that subscribers need not make frequent trips to and from bank branches or Gloworld outlets, but rather get their phone bills paid directly from their bank accounts no matter the bank or the location of the branch in which their account is domiciled,” official said.
