SAP outlines ICT strategies for oil & gas

Leading provider of business software solutions, SAP, has outlined its Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) strategies for the oil and gas sector in the country.

Solution Manager at SAP, Terence Ogle, said in Lagos, last weekend, during an executive breakfast briefing on corporate ICT strategies for oil and gas sector, that the firm understands the workings of the sector very well, hence it’s offering appropriate solutions.

Dwelling on “SAP Oil and Gas Strategic Themes –Responding to Market Challenges” Ogle noted that SAP offers the complete solution in its engagement model which enables the firm to understand business requirements.

According to Ogle, SAP also assesses where most value could be extracted and develop requisite roadmap to align with technology based on business priorities.

On the oil and gas overview, Ogle described the sector as a vital contributor to the overall energy ecosystem, pointing out that the key challenges in the oil and gas industry evolves on its dynamics and performance demands which focus on assets performances and operations.

SAP, the solution manager said, responses to industry challenges and value proposition through strategic imperatives it has developed for oil and gas industry.

Ogle further said, the oil and gas industry solution map 2008 for up-stream solution portfolio, for instances, covers refining and manufacturing portfolio, downstream solution portfolio, supply, transmission and trading service station and convenience retailing portfolio.

In addition, the solution manager said that this could be achieved at a low risk approach that provide early business benefit.

Equally, it affords the optimization of investment portfolio to meet both strategic and financial objectives with manageable risk, exercising control over escalating capital costs with speed project delivery from concept to on-stream are kept under manageable instance.
