NITDA, NAWOJ partner on women’s digital inclusion across Nigeria - ITREALMS

To bridge the gender digital divide, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has joined forces with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to advance digital literacy, women’s empowerment, and national technological transformation, reports ITREALMS.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit to the NITDA headquarters by a NAWOJ delegation led by National President, Comrade Aishatu Ibrahim. The visit also served as an official briefing on the forthcoming Women in Security (WINSEC) Summit & Awards 2026.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, Director of the Stakeholders Management and Partnerships Department, assured NAWOJ of the agency’s full backing and active participation in the upcoming summit.Dr. Onumo praised NAWOJ for pioneering platforms centered on peacebuilding, national security, and female inclusion, noting that these align seamlessly with NITDA’s National Gender Inclusive Strategy.

"Inclusivity is central to everything we do at NITDA. We have clearly mandated that 40 per cent of all our programmes must specifically address gender representation, ensuring women are adequately positioned to benefit from our initiatives," stated Inuwa via Dr. Onumo.

He added that partnering with NAWOJ offers NITDA a strategic channel to extend digital literacy beyond media practitioners to diverse women's groups nationwide.

Speaking earlier, Comrade Aishatu Ibrahim commended the NITDA Director-General for his transformative leadership in driving Nigeria’s digital economy.

Outlining the vision behind the WINSEC Summit & Awards 2026, Comrade Ibrahim explained that the initiative aims to foster multi-sectoral collaboration between government institutions, security agencies, tech experts, and the media to combat contemporary security challenges through innovation.
