Aimed at bolstering financial literacy and driving awareness among young Nigerians, the Foundation recently convened an online interactive session with campus journalists nationwide to discuss responsible investing, market opportunities, and the importance of financial education.

The initiative is specifically designed for eligible students aged eighteen and above across both public and private tertiary institutions, allowing them to secure free shares following the purchase of a minimum of ten shares via the dedicated platform.

For each qualifying subscription, the Foundation matches the purchase by providing an additional ten shares at no extra cost, thereby lowering traditional barriers to capital market participation. Campus reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

Amaechi Rosemary from the University of Ibadan noted that the programme makes investing accessible, while Emmanuel Ndah highlighted that owning a stake in a world-class industrial project fosters economic inclusion and valuable financial responsibility.

Similarly, Moshood Muheeb of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and Esther Olatunji of Obafemi Awolowo University emphasized that the initiative instills a lifelong culture of asset ownership, financial discipline, and proactive long-term planning among youths.

Leadership behind the initiative underscores its broader socio-economic impact. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Foundation, stressed that empowering young minds extends beyond standard educational support, noting that early exposure to ownership and investing equips students to make sound financial decisions that contribute directly to national development.

Echoing this sentiment, Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, explained that the programme bridges theoretical learning with practical execution by guiding students through verification, subscription, and share acquisition.

Equally, the Student Share Grant Initiative serves as a transformative standalone effort to cultivate a new generation of financially astute investors prepared to shape Nigeria’s economic future.
