LG Electronics has further cemented its commitment to sustainable community development with the commissioning of a high-capacity solar-powered borehole at the College of Education, Warri, reports ITREALMS.

This initiative, executed under LG Electronics’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate, bridges the gap between community needs and renewable energy adoption.
By utilizing solar power, the facility operates with minimal reliance on the national grid, ensuring consistent water availability, even during power outages, and significantly reducing the institution's operational costs.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Head of Corporate Marketing at LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr. Paul Mba, noted that the company’s vision is rooted in "meaningful innovation."
“At LG Electronics, we believe that innovation goes beyond consumer electronics; it is about improving the quality of life in the communities where we operate,” Mba stated. “The donation of this solar-powered borehole reflects our commitment to supporting education and providing sustainable solutions that address real-world community challenges.”
For the College of Education, Warri, the borehole is more than a water source; it is a foundation for better hygiene and academic productivity. The Provost, Dr. Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi (JP), lauded LG for the partnership, noting that the project has already begun to stabilize hostel facilities.
“This project is a significant contribution to our institution. Access to clean water has been a major necessity for our students and staff, and this donation will greatly improve our daily activities and overall well-being,” Dr. Oyovwi said. He also called on other corporate bodies to adopt LG’s model of impactful community engagement.
Echoing the Provost’s sentiments, the Secretary General of the Student Union Government (SUG), Ms. Testimony, highlighted the immediate relief the project brings to the student body. “Getting clean water was often difficult. This borehole will make life easier for us and allow us to focus better on our studies,” she remarked, assuring the company that the student community is committed to the maintenance of the facility.
