According to one of the passengers, this incident occurred about 1.30am on Saturday morning after taking a night bus late on Friday.

He also said that they were robbed of their belongs, then asked to enter back into the luxurious bus, locked up and set the vehicle ablaze at Ijebu Ode in Ogun State along Sagamu-Ore-Benin road.

Equally, the eye-witness in a viral video available to ITREALMS said that after the bus was set ablaze and the armed robbers left, they began to make escape.

Luckily, he said, there was no casualty but some of them were left with various degree of injuries including machete cuts sustained from the armed robbers and others in frantic efforts to escape from the inflamed bus.

As said by the eye-witness, they got the incline on the road that armed robbers were on the road, but the bus conductor urged the driver to go on, unfortunately, they ran into the robbery scene.

Industry observers told ITREALMS that the passengers were able to survive the fire because the vehicle they were traveling on, has a high-level tyres.

This, they said, made it possible for them to escape before the vehicle fully got consumed or even exploded.

They further said that the action of the armed robbers was that of terrorists and called on security agencies to take steps in safeguarding night travelers.
ITREALMS recalls that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had in the recent past cautioned against night travels due to its disadvantages including lack of emergencies and security as well as lack of street lights along Sagamu-Ore-Benin-Asaba Route.
