Mr. Okigbo Jnr, is also the Chief Executive Officer of InfoSoft Nigeria Limited with extensive experience in ICT deployment in oil and gas.

Okigbo Jnr, a former President, Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) took over the NCCF-ICT mantle from the Executive Director at Systemspecs, Mr. Deremi Atanda, whose tenure expired recently.

In his inaugural speech, Okigbo Jnr said in Lagos at the weekend that his administration will narrow down on specifics and achievable goals.

“Goals that will yield tangible and demonstrable results,” he declared.

He posited that to challenge the status quo, NCCF-ICT must be bold and deliberate so as to deliver hope and value to the younger ICT generation in the oil and gas sector.

Okigbo Jnr expressed optimism of achieving any set goals because he believes that the brain power to think outside the box resides within this working group.

“I therefore appeal to all of us to put on our thinking caps to do the needful and conceive of workable solutions for our industry,” he urged.

Equally he commended his predecessor, ‘DeRemi Atanda, for a job well done, stressing that he took up a role that was extremely challenging but has smoothened the path to build on, assuring that is what his administration intends to do.

He anticipated a harmonious relationship with the board of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in moving the sector forward.

Okigbo Jnr was later presented with his letter of credence by the representatives of NCDMB led by the Coordinating Secretary/Education and Training, Mr. Abisoye Akinlade and NCCF-ICT focal person, Mr. Uchenna Onyekaonwu.

ITREALMS recalls that the NCCF as enshrined in Section 57 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act 2010, is a platform for information sharing and collaboration in the Nigerian oil and gas industry with respect to upcoming projects in the oil and gas industry, information on available local capabilities; and other policy proposals that may be relevant to Nigerian content development.

The NCCF-ICT, therefore is made up of key industry stakeholders, government and regulatory agencies, with key objectives including to identify issues and responsibilities; to propose interventions that could address issues and harness opportunities; to recommend the necessary policy changes required to influence Nigerian Content growth and capacity development; and to develop programmes and projects for the execution of identified interventions.
