Speaking at the maiden edition of the Women Entrepreneurs and Executives in Tech Summit (WEETS) at Four Point by Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday on the subtheme of "Cybercrime: Converting Suspects to Technology Giants" powered by TechLife with Ugo, a project of TechLife Media & Communications Limited, he encouraged Nigerian women to explore digital technologies for their own good, self-empowerment and financial wherewithal at this digital era.

ITREALMS gathered that Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.

He highlighted the fact that in cybercrime, the fraudsters cut across both genders, so there are also ladies who are running things as far as cybercrime is concern.

Obadare advised participants largely women to make certain that they use technologies positively to create their own advantage and promote such creativity leverage digital space and subsequently become self-reliance.

According to him, women can improve themselves by taking up some interesting certifications of their choice.

This, he said, has the capacity of opening more doors moreso in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) space.

He further advised participants to ensure they have paid antiviruses and be mindful of clicking on untrusted links as well as ensuring double authentication across their devices, especially mobile phones.

ITREALMS gathered that Obadare prides himself as the most ‘credentialed’ Pan-African Cybersecurity and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Thought Leader, even as he is a fellow of British Computer Society, Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), Institute of Information Management (FIIM) and Institute of Brand Management in that order and Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) to name but a few.

Welcoming participants earlier to the event with overarching theme as ‘Future Tech Trends, Challenges and Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs,’ the Convener, Ugochi Emmanuel noted that the platform offers Nigerian women an opportunity to share their experiences on how they have fared in recent times, while exploring new ideas on ICTs, thereby positioning themselves to effectively play a pivotal role in the Nigeria’s tech space.

“It’s a known fact that there are already a good number of Nigerian women making significant landmarks in the technology arena over the years both within and outside the shores of Nigeria,” she said.

Also, she said, the event presents an opportunity for those already in the saddle to be celebrated, pointing out that technology has continued to evolve and transform lives in remarkable ways, lamenting that some other women seem to have taken the backseat in the technology evolution.

The event, she equally said, would be an annual event and counts on its partners to help sustain this event so as to realise the overall objective of robustly mainstreaming more women in the technology ecosystem and encouraging those already making waves in the technology space.
