Ogbanufe unveils ‘Technology Made Simple for Technical Recruiter’

The author of a book on technologies and simplification of terms, tagged ‘Technology Made Simple for the Technical Recruiter,’ Mrs. Obi Ogbanufe has been applauded for her efforts in knowledge sharing.

Leading the applause for Mrs. Ogbanufe on her book, chairman of book launch which held in Lagos at the weekend, and chairman, Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Mr. Gbenga Adebayo, said that it takes a painstaking effort to write book, especially on technology-related matters.

He said that the imperative of human resources in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, pointing out that lack of adequate manpower and modus of retaining good hands has cost Nigeria immensely.

This, he said, has resulted in most of the good hands in the ICT sector rushing abroad for greener pastures.

He also listed human capital as part of the challenges facing the industry today, attributing this to the rate of technology innovations hit the market.

“Part of the challenges facing the industry today is human capital because technology is changing,” he said.

Adebayo said that to find good human resources to support Information Technology (IT) in the world is very difficult, noting that ICT industry is a global industry and having any special graduate in any aspect of the industry potentially translates to being a global brand.

“Everyday new innovations are emerging with dynamics of technologies and because of the inadequacy of human capital, having the right personnel for different parts of the industry becomes a problem,” he lamented.

Although he noted that this is particular to Nigeria alone, but said that in the world all over, these and many of such challenges are what Obi’s book stands to address.

For the reviewer of the book and president, Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Chief Chris Uwaje, the book by Mrs. Ogbanufe is a professional wake up call for Nigeria and Africa continent in particular in terms of knowing what employers want and for the potential employees to knowledge what is expected of them, mostly during the interview sessions.

“It’s an attempt to provide a path for Information Technology recruiters,” he asserted.

Uwaje who also is the chief executive officer of Connect Technologies, noted that the book has 259 pages with 13 chapters within a four-section path.

The book which he said was structured in the United States’ book format, also is applicable to the Nigerian formats, thereby making easy for IT recruiters in the country to tap the relevant anointing embedded in the book wisdom by Mrs. Ogbanufe.

In his contribution, the immediate past president, Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) and chief executive officer of PiNet Informatics, Mr. Lanre Ajayi noted that recently at an event of NIG, it was realized that Nigerian youths do not read.

This, he said, they blamed on the elders in the industry, whom they accused of not writing and said that now that elders have started writing books, “it’s the right time for Nigerians and the youth in particular to begin to read, especially on technologies.”

He enjoined Nigerians to reach their fellow country authors, saying that by so doing, the authors are not only being made confident, but encourages them to do more.

In her remarks, the author, Mrs. Ogbanufe accompanied by the husband, Mr. Okey Ogbanufe said that she has inspiration to write and this has been a long time dream.

She thanked her family for their support and understanding mostly when the need to actualize this dream calls for more attention than usual.

She disclosed that the book; ‘Technology Made Simple for the Technical Recruiter,’ is already on offer at Amazon.com, a dedicated online bookshop, adding that it could be picked up at bookshops and orders could also be placed and it would be delivered at doorsteps.

The book launch was attended by Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) who was represented by Mr. Abdullahi Musa and Director-General, Nigeria Censors Board, Mr. Emeka Mba, the General manager, iWay Africa Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, Managing Director, Zinox Computers, Mr. Emomine Mukoro among others.
