Glo explains Bid-2-Win promo, gives out 3G modems

Director of Sales, Globacom, Mr Ken Hall, has explained the concept behind the market introduction of Bid2Win promo, saying it was a product of intensive research.

This is coming as Glo gave out its hi-speed Third Generation (3G) internet modems to lucky participants at the maiden edition of BookJam held at, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Globacom, he said introduced the innovative subscriber reward package for Nigerians, Bid2Win.

Mr Hall, who spoke at the presentation of prizes to the maiden winners, said that the company for some time had been looking at different ways to introduce excitement and generate fun for its subscribers while also rewarding them at the same time, disclosing that the new promo fitted this need.

“You can see from the mechanics of the bid that it is not the highest bid from any subscriber that wins as is the practice in bidding processes”, he said, adding that the whole mystery is about the lowest unique bid that wins any of the mouth-watering prizes.

To bid, subscribers, both old and new, can send sms with the word “BID” to the short code, 300. Each sms costs N100.

The prizes include 18 brand new Kia Rio cars already won in the first segment. In the second segment which is now being run, 18 brand new Toyota Yaris will be won by subscribers while three other categories of prizes to be won are being kept under for now as part of the plan to excite subscribers. Every 18 days the prizes will be changed to make the promotion exciting for subscribers.

Mr. Hall expressed confidence that the new promo would “transform the dreams of several Glo subscribers beyond their wildest imaginations, given the mouth watering prizes Globacom is giving away. We want our subscribers to participate, enjoy the fun and win great prizes”.

He also disclosed that the prizes have been carefully selected to include items that several people long to purchase and own.

The winners will be presented their prizes periodically in their respective locations nationwide during the duration of the promo.

Bonus prizes of airtime are being distributed to thousands of other subscribers on the network. These include over N180 Million worth of Glo to Glo airtime for 6,000 subscribers. While 5,000 subscribers get N200 airtime totaling N1 million daily, another 1,000 subscribers get to win N1,000 airtime totaling N1 million daily.

In a related development, Globacom last weekend gave out its hi-speed 3G internet modems to lucky participants at the maiden edition of BookJam held at the Lifestyle Store, Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos.

A film director, Choox Kema, and a Business Administration student of University of Lagos, Titus Igwe, were presented with the modems after they emerged winners of a draw held for those who attended the event on Saturday.

BookJam is a monthly series of literary events centred around book readings and discussions spiced up with musical performances. It is meant to provide literary entertainment for the public, create opportunities for book lovers to meet and discuss with writers and artists in order to support the local literary community.

Guest writers who read from their works were Kaine Agary, author of Yellow Yellow and winner of the 2008 NLNG-sponsored Nigeria Prize for Literature; Eghosa Imasuen, author of To Saint Patrick; Jude Dibia, author of Walking with Shadows and Unbridled and winner of the 2007 NDDC/ANA-sponsored Ken Saro-Wiwa Prize for Prose, and author of It’s our Turn to Eat, Michela Wrong.

Presenting the Glo internet modems to the winners of the draw, Mr. Bankole Ojutalayo of Value Added Services Department, Glo, observed that the modems would offer the beneficiaries the fastest and most reliable access to the internet.

“We are aware that, as writers, they will be doing a lot of research work and most of these researches are done on the internet these days. The Glo 3G internet modem will make their work easier and more convenient,” Ojutalayo noted.

The Glo prepaid 3G Plus High Speed internet modem, launched last, year offers users faster connectivity and faster downloads at affordable rates.

“The modem comes in three packages designed for the convenience of subscribers. The highly flexible usage options include the All day Packs, Bundled Hour Packs and Flexi packs,” explained Ojutalayo.

Giving details of the packages, Sales Manager of 3G Plus, Olawunmi Jewesimi, said the All Day pack has the Always MAX, Always Min and Always Day package types.

For the Always MAX package, the user is required to pay N10,000 monthly fee and this gives him access to the internet all day for 30 days.

For the Always Min package, Jewesimi explained, the user pays N5,000 a month for all-day access to the internet for 30 days, while the monthly fee for Always Day pack is N500 for all day access for 24 hours.

The Bundled Hour Packs come in two categories: G300 which attracts N15,000 monthly fee for all day access for 300 hours and G100 which has a monthly fee of N6,000 with 100 hours, all day access.
