HP lifts Alabi on digital photography

Hewlett Packard (HP) Nigeria has lifted a Lagos-based photographer, Mr. Razaq Alabi, alias Anointing Photos, with the presentation of a HP-R927 digital camera and HP Photosmart 475 printer, as well as consumables to sustain the photographer for the next 12 months.

Announcing this to newsmen in Lagos on Monday, Corporate Account Manager, Imaging and Printing Group, West Africa, Mr. Ken Dibor, said that the presentation is in fulfilment of HP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision.

He also said that HP is not only in the country to invest for business sake, but is equally investing in people and environment as a show of commitment to the immediate business domain.

He added that it was a nasty experience that brought about this exercise, which has culminated in changing the life of Mr. Alabi, promising that HP would take this CSR beyond Lagos.

Mr. Dibor said that the photographer would have a backdrop to ensure that pictures taken at his studio at Eleke Crescent, Lagos, remain bright and worthy of acceptance by any organisation including embassies.

“All these are mobile and which means he, Mr. Alabi can actually make his studio a mobile one,” he declared, stressing that Mr. Alabi may not need to hire an assistant, even as all the equipment have one year guarantee.

Another manager from HP, Mr. Victor Diali noted that when people do not find quality, they have to make do with mediocrity, emphasising, that the exercise is to make Mr. Alabi a star among his colleagues in order to make a difference, while he becomes HP’s photo ambassador.

Responding on the honour, Mr. Alabi said that he has been a photographer for years, especially at the Eleke Crescent, pointing out that when customers do not see what they want, “what they see becomes their want” and assured that the new product would be used optimally to make the needed difference in his life and work.

He also expressed thanks to God for making it possible and to HP for being the instrument for lifting him thus far.

Throwing more light on the equipment, Technical Consultant at HP Nigeria, Mr. Francis Angbo, said that the life span of the photos taken on the HP Photosmart R927 digital camera is 82 years before fading could occur, just as the camera comes with 8.2 mega pixels.

On the portable printer, Photosmart 475, which uses 2 Gega byte memory card, he noted that it has facility for electricity and the battery could be recharged, whereas it could be used to store about 3000 photos, even as the printer supports five kinds of memory cards, bluetooth enabled, universal serial bus (USB) ports and could print as large as 5 x 7 photo size image.

He stressed that the printer can also be deployed wirelessly, adding that the camera has 49 minutes video recording time while the video could be printed from recorded images and could be self-timed.

The HP Photosmart R927 digital camera, Mr. Angbo explained, is one of HP’s most feature-rich digital camera models with 8.2 mega pixels, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a 3-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen.

In addition, Mr. Angbo informed that the R927 has a range of manual and automatic modes and controls, along with an on-screen user guide, even as this digital camera has HP’s real life technologies that assist in removing red-eye and fix lighting-related issues.

According to him, there are interesting in-camera editing features that could do everything from discolouring of a photo to slim the subject down among others.

The presentation was later made by Marketing Manager, Ms Ijeoma Onyiuke accompanied by Messer Dibor, Angbo and Extended Retail Account Manager, HP Nigeria, Mr. Christopher Okelue.
