Fanawapo leads JACITAD

Remmy Nweke

A non-governmental organisation with focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), the Joint Action Committee on Information Technology Awareness and Development (JACITAD), has elected Mr. Sola Fanawapo, it’s new president.

Mr. Fanawapo would lead the group for the next two years and was elected along with Mr. Don Pedro Aganbi as the vice president, Mr. Prince Osuagwu – Secretary General, Mr. Chris Njoku – Financial Secretary, Ms Joke Femi-Solaja – Treasurer and Mr. Emeka Aginam as director of social.

They were chosen in an election presided over by Mr. Chima Akwaja-led three-man electoral committee included Messrs Chidiebere Nwankwo and Peter Jones.

Declaring the result, Mr. Akwaja tasked the newly elected executive to ensure they move JACITAD to the next level with their programmes and lauded members for turning out in good numbers to exercise their voting rights by fulfilling their fundamental obligation.

He said that the new executive would be inaugurated in a future date to be made known soon and commended members for their co-operation during the campaign and election proper.

One of the founding fathers of JACITAD, who witnessed the election, Mr. Inye Kemabonta noted that the group has come of age and needs to move to the next level in the evolution of its avowed objectives, which is centred on ICT awareness and development.

He also charged the new exco to explore avenues of optimising various opportunities available to take JACITAD to the next height, especially by leveraging on its board of trustees to enable the board members to work for JACITAD.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president of JACITAD, Mr. Fanawapo, said that the new exco would in less than two weeks unfold its agenda, which he promised to lead the organisation with the involvement of all stakeholders.

He further solicited for support to ensure that they succeed, even as the inauguration of board of trustees would also top the agenda of the latest leadership.

Equally commenting the newly elected secretary general, Mr. Osuagwu, noted that the planning of the elections and the strategies adopted by the electoral committee, were unique in their own ways.
“It however couldn’t have been possible without your (members) calm, calculated and unflinching support that you gave. That is the spirit we have resolved to work with. JACITAD is not political party and so in the election there are no losers, no endangered species. We all are developers,” he submitted.
