The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has said that promotion of public safety is key to the establishment of its Emergency Communication Centres, reports ITREALMS.
This is coming as NCC received two international recognitions from the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and the African Public Relations Association (APRA) in acknowledgment of the transformational role of the ECCs in providing succor to Nigerians who are in emergencies.

The Oyo State government has organised a free breast and cervical cancer screening programme for women of reproductive age in the state, declaring that it remains committed to putting an end to the spread of the disease in the state, reports ITREALMS.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello, who disclosed this at the sensitisation programme organised by the Ministry of Health to commemorate the 2021 World Cancer Day, said the day was observed to raise awareness on cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

“As of 25th January, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) had received an initial release of N22.1 billion, with only 59.8% of this figure utilized or committed thus far. This is because of the efficiency in the system plus the support from partners and donors that allowed the government to be judicious with the use of the funds thus far. The entire PTF funds were expected to be exhausted by the end of September 2020. Based on current projections, these funds may likely last until the end of June 2021 and contribute to the response.” - Information from a PTF insider.
