The Federal Government has approved the extension of the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to the 26th of July, 2021. The decision to extend the deadline was made after a request by stakeholders on the need to consolidate the enrolment and NIN-SIM verification process following the rapid increase in the number of enrolment systems across the country.

As at June 28, 2021, a total of 5,410 enrolment systems are now available across the country and this would significantly ease the NIN enrolment process and subsequent linkage of NIN to SIM. It is worthy of note that there were only about 800 such enrolment systems as at December 2020.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting at the NNPC Towers, Abuja, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, said the move was at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari who mandated the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the NNPC, the EFCC and all other security agencies to do everything to stop crude oil theft and illicit truck-out of petroleum products which he described as major economic crimes that have hindered Nigerians from enjoying the benefit of subsidized petroleum products.

Frontrunner in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidates, in the Anambra state Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has described Sunday night's attacks on police and INEC facilities in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, as "unfortunate" and "an act capable of throwing the state into anarchy" reports ITREALMS.
According to press and eyewitness reports, hoodlums attacked the B Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Road and the Awka office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, setting both facilities ablaze.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that for violating the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been ruled out of the forthcoming November 6, 2021 governorship poll in Anambra State, reports 
ITREALMS.
INEC, ITREALMS gathered in Abuja Wednesday hinted that APGA’s disqualification followed the party’s failure to comply with Section 85 of the Electoral Act.

Quota system: Chidoka decries elevation of federal character over merit - ITREALMS


The former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka has decried attempts to elevate federal character over merit in the promotion and appointment of public service in the name of quota system unchecked, reports ITREALMS.
Chidoka who was at a time the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Corps, made this known at a public discourse in Abuja.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has called for input into the draft annual operating levy, frequency spectrum fees and pricing among others, reports ITREALMS.
The Commission in a public notice published on June 22, 2021, noted this is in exercise of its functions under the Nigerian Communications Act 2003.
