NCS gets LOC for 26th national confab

A multi-stakeholder Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) 26th national conference has been inaugurated in Abuja, according to the chairman of conferences at NCS, Mr. Jide Awe, reports ITRealms.

He said that the conference with the Information Technology for National Safety and Development”, will hold from July 19 to 21, 2016, NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja, stressing that the annual conference is one of the most important means by which NCS pursues its goal of facilitating the development of an inclusive, globally competitive and prosperous Nigeria through information technology.

In addition, Awe said, the LOC is comprised of NCS Abuja chapter executives as well as representatives from the private and public sector stakeholders, adding that the LOC is expected to make effective local conference arrangements in Abuja, FCT to facilitate the hosting of a successful conference based on the values and vision of NCS.

He said that the committee will be showcasing the Public sector ICT and the Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship platform as new features of the NCS conference. While other highlights are plenary and parallel sessions, technical sessions, seminars, research consortium, induction of new members, exhibition and products launch, IT competitions; fellows’ forum and annual general meeting.

Awe further conveyed the best wishes of Professor Sola Aderounmu, NCS President who urged all LOC members to view the LOC assignment as a call to service and to be at their best to ensure that the conference is a complete success.

The welcome remarks were delivered by Mr. Iyiola Ayoola, Acting Executive Secretary, NCS, while Mr. Rex Abitogun, NCS Abuja Chapter Chairman, commended all stakeholders for their presence and support of the NCS cause.

Members of the LOC who were present at the inauguration include representatives of Federal Ministry of Communications, Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Consulting Support Services, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), NITDA, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigerian Postal Services and National Identity Management Commission.

The NCS Conference is the largest Annual gathering of Nigeria’s leading IT professionals and stakeholders including employers, investors, businesses, agencies, vendors, organizations, innovators, researchers, educators, thought leaders and consumers cutting across all sectors.
