The second national operator, Globacom has slashed the retail prices of its Blackberry devices at its Gloworld nationwide.

Head, Blackberry and 3G Sales, Mr. Wumi Jewesimi, said that it was designed to make the devices available to more subscribers on the Glo network.

He explained that Blackberry Gemini, which before now cost N54,000 in Glo’s retail shops, Gloworld, is now N49,000, giving a saving of N5,000, just the Blackberry Bold, which sell at N100,000.

He disclosed that the biggest saving was for those who decide to go for the trendy Bold 2, currently selling at N85,000 from the original N100,000, giving the subscriber a saving of N15,000.

Jewesimi also said that the reduced prices on the devices was the best deal for subscribers who purchase their devices from Gloworld and there is the peace of mind as there is the assurance that they are buying original devices which have been sourced directly from RIM by Glo.

The devices purchased from Gloworld, he said, have warranty and also the advantage of excellent Global Positioning General packet radio service (GPRS) coverage on the Glo network.

He further said that Glo recently crashed the cost of calls for subscribers on its prepaid Blackberry services as it introduced a special BlackBerry U package, which offers the lowest uniform tariff structure for Prepaid BlackBerry users on any network in the country.

As said by him, with the BlackBerry U, existing and new Glo prepaid Blackberry subscribers enjoy a call rate of N25 per minute or 42Kobo per second for all calls including Glo-to-Glo and Glo to other networks.

“With the best and widest GPRS coverage in Nigeria, subscribers using BlackBerry from Glo can therefore be guaranteed the most reliable services in more locations across the country at the lowest rate. This is the incredible value that comes with being on the Glo network,” Jewesimi said.
