SE Security meeting: Iyom Bianca urges Gov. Obiano to attend - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

Iyom Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu has thrown her weight behind the call on Governor Willie Obiano to attend the emergency South East Governors meeting slated for Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in person, reports ITREALMS.

Gov. Obiano

The South East Governors, ITREALMS gathered have summoned an emergency meeting and urged all the SE governors to attend in person.

In a post on her Facebook page on Monday, October 4, 2021, Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, called on well meaning Ndi Anambra to urge Gov. Obiano to attend in person and not send representatives.

She noted that this has become imperative given the worsening state of insecurity in the zone, "particularly in Anambra State which has become a crisis point as a result of the impending guber elections."

"All S.E governors have been requested to attend in person by the Chairman of S.E Governors Forum and not in representative capacity.

"I am appealing, together with All concerned citizens of Anambra to our governor, Chief Willie Obiano to physically attend this meeting. Anambra is boiling. It’s no longer just a matter of unknown gunmen....even Politically motivated and other opportunistic killings and violent attacks have now become subsumed under this heading. Just last week 8 people, including an illustrious Son, Dr Chike Akunyili, were gruesomely murdered in different locations of the state....yet, no executive condolence visits.

"Yesterday Unizik Teaching Hospital was invaded by rampaging gunmen and a student was shot dead, with another killing and other casualties reported overnight.

"Anambra state is in mayhem; people are postponing funerals and other activities and many Anambra indigenes resident abroad are canceling their Christmas return trips.

"I am appealing to Governor Willie Obiano, who is yet again, planning to send his Deputy to represent him, to reconsider this approach. This is not business as usual...our people are being gunned down almost on a daily basis. As our governor, he is the Chief Security Officer of the State.

"Moreover, the deployment of contingents of federal troops now heading towards Anambra will also require his input at the meeting regarding scope and modalities of operation. If he is hale and hearty enough to undertake ceaseless sightseeing excursions to the Anambra Airport Construction Site, I believe it will not be too much to ask that he sacrifices some of this precious time to attend this important security meeting for the sake, not only of Ndi Anambra But Ndi Igbo as a whole," she said.

Iyom Bianca equally recalled their previous campaign with the #SOS ( #signobianosign) Anti Open Grazing Bill yielded fruit as the Anambra House of Assembly is presently intensifying efforts to prepare and present the Bill for him to sign into Law.

"Our State is burning. let’s all join hands yet again to save it. Don’t stand aside with the attitude of ‘O gbasaro m’ because tomorrow the victim could be you or your loved one. This concerns ALL of us.

"All well meaning citizens should kindly join this appeal to the governor by posting the hashtag #ObianopleaseAttend."
