The Oye-Ekiti-based Damilola Adeparusi also known as Chef Dammy, may have wasted her time and resources by cooking for fun for a 120-hour cook-a-thon, which lacked due process, according to the Guinness World Records (GWR), reports ITREALMS.
Chef Dammy reportedly embarked on the exercise in a bid to overtake Hilda Bassey (Hilda Baci) a Nigeria celebrity chef, who recently broke world cooking record with her 100 hour cook-a-thon in Lagos.
GWR in a media inquiry declared that “We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.”
Also, GWR pointed out that “Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to."
As said by GWR, “This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.”
GWR equally clarified that “There is no waiting time to attempt to break an existing record.”
However, ITREALMS gathered that some netizens have lambasted Chef Dammy and unprepared for the record she intended to broke, accusing her of turning off the gas to pick beans while others declared that she should go home and rest, but she continued cooking until she reached 120 hours, which is now being disputed by GWR.
In response to a press enquiry, the Guinness World Records on Tuesday, 13 June said, “We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.”
Further, GWR maintained that anyone trying to break a record must receive rules from the body once the application is accepted.
