The day after terrorist came home - ITREALMS

Invasion of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Afara-Kaduna State, recently by some terrorists, attracted outright condemnation as a battle taken home is exposure of weak backup, writes REMMY NWEKE.
... Coming home of terrorists:

The news of the invasion of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) at Afaka in Kaduna State in the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, 2021 with personnel sustaining two casualties and one abduction by what is now known and referred to as unknown gunmen.

The military unlike what is becoming unbecoming of the Nigeria government and her institutions came up few hours later to confirm this incident.

The Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Muhd Jajira informed
ITREALMS in a press statement that the security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy "was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen."

According to him, the unknown gunmen gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka and during the unfortunate incident, "we lost two personnel and one was abducted."

In pursuit of unknown gunmen:

He also said, the Academy in collaboration with the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna State has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.

"The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that these unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued," he said.

But before the day could go down, a report has it that the abducted personnel, Major Darlung, was said to be found dead about 2hrs ago.

Brief on NDA:

For the records, the Nigerian Defence Academy is a military university based in Kaduna with campuses in Afaka and Ribadu districts of the state.

Founded in February 1964, NDA trains officer cadets for commissioning into one of the three services of the Nigerian Armed Forces, namely the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, which lasts for five years.

Currently, NDA commandant is Major General IM Yusuf with estimated students of 3,500 across various Battalions comprising Burma, Mogadishu, Abyssinia, and Dalet.

The day after …

Hearing the above news on the invasion, killings of some officers and abduct one, which most Nigerians expressed doubt about. They also lamented that the enemies of the society have returned home with a bang.

For some industry watchers, there is of course an insider compromise which has been the rumoured overtime, coupled with lack of requisite equipment to face and tackle these criminals in whatever colour they may decide to appear including being tagged terrorists, bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers to mention but a few.

For the likes of Prince Nmoghalu Okey Okaro who wondered that, when the citadel of national defence is assailed, what becomes of the body subsidiaries? “Blatant weakness, porousness and namby pamby. It is a sad day for our country indeed. The repentant Boko Haram guys must be dealt in sync with the provisions of the law of the land and not being enlisted into the army as they are all security threats prepared to snoop on our intelligence and divulge it for filtty lucre.”

Equally speaking Fuji Dancer, a Nigerian who identified self as Fuji Dancer on social media, sympathized with the bereaved families, but decried the fact that the breach of NDA security paints a poor picture about the security arrangements across Nigeria as a whole.

For some other Nigerians the so-called compromise of the security architecture of NDA have been widely described as aberration which came barely days after Taliban reported sacked the president of Afghanistan and sharing their video clips on social of their takeover of the presidential palace.

Madness of insider collabo says CDS:

In his reaction over the recent terrorists attack on NDA in Kaduna, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor said in Yola they suspected it was with insider collaboration, describing it as “madness that must be stopped as soon as possible.”

As said by him, “The infiltration did not come by virtue of the normal banditry action, but these are things we are already looking at and in due course, you will get the details. Any form of insecurity is a cause for worry for anyone and that is why for us, we are more determined that this madness must be brought to an end very speedily.”

Speaking about the insurgency in the North East, the CDS thanked the residents for genuinely supporting the ongoing intensive clearance operations by troops towards the restoration of permanent peace in the zone, stressing that solution to the security challenges in the North East lie in the region, with hopes that the situation will get better in the days ahead.

General Irabor equally allayed the fears of Nigerians on the ongoing mass surrendering of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) ex-fighters to the military. He urged residents and Nigerians to trust the relevant agencies that have been tasked with the responsibilities of planning the rehabilitation of repented insurgents, maintaining that the military will deal with the matter for the good of the region as there will be no loose ends.

He advised military veterans to take full advantage of the security parley in evaluating the various military operations, saying their patriotic and constructive assessment of the general security situation would add value to the ongoing clearance operations.

“What remains very clear is the desire and will of the AFN to speedily turn around the fortune of the North East to a state where everyone will be happy again,” the CDS said.

Is this prophecy coming through?

Of late, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele, was reported to have released fresh warnings to the Nigerian government over the deteriorating state of insecurity in the country, alleging that a sect like Taliban currently terrorizing Afghanistan is regrouping in Africa to take over Nigeria and some other countries.

A press statement by his media office and available to
ITREALMS, Primate Ayodele explained that the sect is planning to takeover some states in Nigeria as the first launching pad and warned that if the Nigerian and other African governments fail to heed warnings, something terrible may happen on the continent.

According to Primate Ayodele, the federal government should as matter of urgency work on the “borders and security system against what is coming as he foresees the group taking over some states in Nigeria.”

“I am seeing a sect like Taliban coming up Africa; they are coming in a big form to attack African countries like Burundi, Mali, Central Africa Republic, Benin Republic, Chad, Niger Republic and Nigeria.

“It will be very serious, they are already gathering together and they want to take over some states in Nigeria, namely; Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, Plateau, parts of Benue and Kogi. This is a warning the government should work on immediately. I’m seeing them planning, strategizing on attacking Africa and Nigeria.

“I had warned that Boko Haram, ISWAP will go but another terrorist group is coming, it’s about to happen except the government takes a deliberate action against this. In this fight against terrorism, let them also seek the face of God for directions.”

On the issue of Boko Haram, Primate Ayodele advised FG not to give the terrorist group amnesty because it will only encourage terrorism in the country, explaining that the government needs to expose those abating terrorists among them.

Susceptible Game?
For a school of thought, the game plan as predicted is that "One Day Nigerians Will Be Told That "Taliban Boko Haram" has taken over Aso Rock and new warlords (Territorial Commanders), have taken over the 36 State Capitals". The whereabouts of the President and top government functionaries will be said to be unknown or that they have flew to Niger Republic or Sudan. This is projected to happen before March 2023.

Thereby leaving Nigeria in the hands of terrorist like in Afghanistan, which industry observers are asking which country is next after Afghanistan?

With this kind of ugly forecast by some industry analysts, its enough bad situation already and work against it.

Submission:

In view of the recent attack on NDA, many Nigerian have severally described the invasion as a disgrace and boldening steps for the terrorists which could invade the Aso Rock any moment, just as the monitors at the Closed-circuit television, room also known as video surveillance, expected to use video cameras to transmit signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors, where reportedly asleep as a typical scene of the Nigeria's public service.

Dishearteningly as it may sound, the Presidency seems to have been taken aback too as Mr. President, General Mohammadu Buhari, retired, has failed even the nation with the increase in insecurity in the country, especially as the terrorists keep targeting schools and educational institutions without solution.

Pathetically, a Teacher in Maiduguri, while reacting to spade of attacks on educational institutions had declared that “They had not received an education in that area for many, many, years…. Now they [Boko Haram] have chased away the teachers. Their children have no future.”

Like an Igbo adage says, any child sent by the father to rob, is reputed to have all the forces of breaking the door of their victims with alacrity.

And like the Nigerian state, now that terrorists in the name of Boko Haram have succeeded taking the 'war' home to the Nigerian Army by invading the NDA where our army senior officers are trained and even killed some officers and abducted a few without any casualty on their side; does Nigeria as a country and her defence still have a future?

Your guess is as good as only time shall tell.
