Breaking: 5m internet jobs: Microsoft partners FG on digital plan - ITREALMS

President of Microsoft, Mr. Brad Smith has announced a digital plan to create some 5 million jobs for Nigerians leveraging the power of the Internet infrastructure, reports 
ITREALMS.
This job creation effort, he said, would be in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria to accelerate the nation’s efforts in becoming a more digital economy.


Mr. Smith who made this disclosure in company of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said the partnership would be anchored on three pillars, namely “increased connectivity, upskilling and job creation as well as digital transformation.”

Smith also through his Twitter handle @BradSmi expressed optimism in the future of Nigeria.

“That's why we’re embarking on a series of investments in Nigeria to put tech to work, create jobs, and foster the technology ecosystem across the country,” he declared.

Equally speaking through his Senior Special Assistant-Media & Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande @akandeoj, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, said that this partnership would ensure internet connectivity infrastructure including cloud services in the six geopolitical zones and the project by itself is expected to creates some 27,000 jobs immediately.

“The project, by itself, creates 27,000 jobs right away, ahead of multiplier effect,” he said.

Today, he said, “I am delighted to announce some initiatives that the Nigerian government will be embarking on with the Microsoft Corporation over the next few months.”

Osinbajo further said via his handle @ProfOsinbajo “Indeed, it is with this in mind that we have sought constructive partnerships that bridge the knowledge, skills and technology gap that exist in most of our communities.”
