Ericsson thrives on mobility, broadband, cloud – Ogisi

Director, Media and Public Relations at LM Ericsson Nigeria, Ms Omasan Ogisi has disclosed that the company has thrived on the provision of mobility, broadband and cloud services.

Speaking a media parley in Lagos recently, Ogisi said that Ericsson has proved its expertise in these areas and have ahead to use same to change the way people live and work.

Nowadays, Ogisi who was joined at the session by the Regional Manager, Marketing and Strategy, Ms Adeola Olasewere noted that the world “has left from I need it to I need it now, immediately and this has gone round the economies.”

She said that this has motivated Ericsson to come up with what she tagged ‘Impact of the Networked Society’ where people, business and society are using connected devices to their benefit.

Ericsson, she cited for instance, demonstrated at the recently held AfricaCom in Cape Town South Africa; the benefit based on the benefits for Africa in four main areas namely with Broadband for All, the cloud, rural connectivity and connected devices.

On Broadband for all, she said that more people in sub-Saharan Africa today connect to internet using a mobile device than those using a fixed connection, thus implying that future access to broadband internet in the region will be driven by wireless broadband services.

She also said that Ericsson confirmed its position with latest Forth Generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) and various products as well as services which enable mobile operators to deploy a network and related service solutions to ensure a profitable data business.

“Ericsson earlier this year launched a pilot LTE network in South Africa for a leading mobile operator in the country,” he said.

As for Cloud, she said, it means a multitude of things to telecom operators as a way to buy services from the Cloud rather than building them in-house, through a business opportunity for offering cloud services to enterprises via alliances and bundles to a business opportunity for building their own clouds.

Just yesterday I've finished my essay for HitTheGrade about the grows of the mobile device-only Internet users. I'm old-fashioned and I still use my PC. I don't even like laptops as the main computers. And there's a lot of stable internet-users, who don;t use PC at all. The most of them are Asians, they have good wireless internet and powerful devices, but still. It's so weird for me.
