A United Kingdom-based socio-cultural group, Ogbako Ndi Igbo UK, has petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for the removal of the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, over alleged promotion of ethnic bigotry against the Igbo, reports ITREALMS.

In the petition dated September 15, 2025, and co-signed by the group’s President, Dr. Charles Ukandu, and Secretary-General, Barr. Ken Udeoka, Ogbako Ndi Igbo UK accused Dabiri-Erewa of amplifying hate speech by reposting offensive content on her verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Concerned resident of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Mr. Senator Iroegbu has petitioned the FCT Minister, Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on the ongoing resurfacing of the streets in Wuse district in Abuja, reports ITREALMS.

Iroegbu in the petition at the weekend, available to ITREALMS informed that the resurfacing especially in the Zone 1-7 axis have revealed some alarming features which may have a far reaching implications for the community.

The Presidential Election Petitions Court PEPC has ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was at liberty to decide the mode of transmission of election results during the presidential election on February 25, 2023.

The five-man panel led on by Justice Haruna Tsammani said Wednesday that Sections 52 and 65 of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC was at liberty to prescribe the manner in which election results were transmitted during the poll.

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Usman Alkali Baba over what the not-for-profit and advocacy organisation described as curious parading of a tailor, Mr. Thaddeus Ikechukwu Ojokoh, by the Imo State Police for killing of some officers in the state, reports ITREALMS.

RULAAC Executive Director, Mr. Okechukwu Nwanguma who endorsed the petition made available to ITREALMS also urged the IGP Baba to promptly and thoroughly investigate this petition to ensure impartiality, insisting that the crime he was being held was actually committed while Thaddeus was already in police custody as at April 15, even as the crime was committed April 21, 2023.

The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre), a leading anti-corruption organization, has written a petition to the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), expressing its concern about the Federal Civil Service Commission employing staff with fake employment letters.

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has petitioned the office of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Alkali Baba Usman, over the abuse of power and discreditable conduct of one senior Police officer, ASP Matthew Abu Michael, reports ITREALMS

The petition, a copy of which was sighted by 
ITREALMS was dated April 3, 2022 and addressed to the IGP at Force Headquarters on the rising killings and tensions orchestrated by ASP Matthew Abu in Isuaniocha town of Anambra State.

NUJ petitions Osinbajo over IGP’s incessant attacks on Nigerian journalists - ITREALMS

The President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abdulwaheed Odusile, has petitioned the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on the incessant attacks on Nigerian journalists by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, reports ITREALMS.

Odusile, who wrote the petition on behalf of Nigerian journalists, used the arrest and detention of a Premium Times Reporter, Samuel Ogundipe, as take-off point.

He said Idris has a history of hounding Nigerian journalists, adding that this is giving the government a bad image.

The letter reads in full:

“PETITION AGAINST THE INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, MR IBRAHIM IDRIS

I write this petition on behalf of thousands of Nigerian journalists, against the Inspector-General of police, Mr Ibrahim Idris over his incessant attacks on journalists and violent violations of their human rights, culminating in yesterday's (Tuesday)arrest of a Premium Times reporter, Mr Samuel Ogundipe.

Mr Ogundipe is being detained over the publication of the letter of the IGP to your Excellency, in respect of the police investigation on the DSS siege on National Assembly. The journalist is being held to disclose his source of information, a demand that is against the ethical precepts of our profession.

Your Excellency, we want to note that this is not the first time the IGP has been hounding the press. On January 1, this year, two journalists who are brothers, Messrs Daniel and Izuchukwu Elomba were abducted in their homes by SARS officers, on the orders of the IGP and detained for ten days, over what was published on their blog purportedly against the IGP.

It would be recalled that counsel to the two journalists, Festus Keyamo, (SAN) petitioned your Excellency and you caused the matter to be investigated. 

Consequently, on April 23, 2018, a Federal High court, sitting in Abuja awarded N5 million damages against the police for this illegal detention.

Also, on March 13, 2018, SARS officers, under the control of the IGP, abducted Abdulahi Krishi, the National Assembly correspondent of Daily Trust, right at the premises of the National Assembly. He was subsequently released 24 hours later after an outcry from the media.

Your Excellency, it is obvious that the excesses of the IGP against the media is giving your government a bad image as an anti-press government, even when it's obvious these infractions were carried out without the presidency's imprimatur.

We therefore implore your Excellency to call the Inspector-General to order and stop his incessant attacks on the media.

We also demand that the detained reporter of Premium Times be released forthwith.

Alleged N170m deal: Zinox blackmailer petitions Osinbajo again

The embattled Managing Director of Ibadan-based Citadel Oracle Concepts, Mr. Benjamin Joseph is not done yet with his alleged mischief, as he reportedly petitioned the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for a second time record, reports ITRealms.

Information reaching our newsroom, showed that Joseph, has again petitioned Vice President, Osinbajo against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC); the Nigerian Police and the Attorney General of the Federation over his on-going prosecution for false petitioning and deceit by the Police.

ITRealms recalls that Joseph also accused of allegedly blackmailing officials of Zinox Technologies Ltd, over a N170 million contract for the supply of HP laptops awarded to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

His prosecution by the Nigerian Police, ITRealms reports, is before an Abuja High Court, which arose after rigorous investigations following his petition five years and precisely 2013, regarding a business transaction with his authorized representative, Princess Kama and ICT products distributors, Technology Distributions Ltd (TD).

ITRealms also gathered that Mr. Joseph had previously petitioned Osinbajo, alleging that his company was used to defraud the Federal Government of over N200m over the non-supply of the said laptops, had recently sent another written petition to the Vice President against the security agencies and the Attorney General’s office.

Further, ITRealms gathered that upon receipt of the first petition, the Vice President had immediately escalated it to the appropriate authority – the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for due investigation, which led to the visit by the Procurement Fraud Unit of the EFCC to the offices of the FIRS and found every unit of the HP laptops supplied with serial numbers nationwide and each unit traced to its respective user.

Further investigations showed the existence of a copy of a Letter of Authority which Joseph issued to the FIRS, with copies of his international passport, accepting the award of the contract for the supply of the HP laptops and appointing his associate, Princess Kama as his authorized representative to handle the transaction.

In addition to the office of the Vice President, Joseph had also petitioned the EFCC, Lagos who investigated and saw no merit in his complaint, especially alleging forgery of his signature on the board resolution to open an account at Access Bank, which investigation proved otherwise, with a forensic analysis confirming that the Board resolution documents were not forged but were actually signed by him, alongside other false claims, leading to the former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, arraigning him for deceit and false petitioning at an Abuja court under Charge Number CR/216/16 at the FCT High Court.

Echika Ezuka, Corporate Communications Advisor to Zinox, disclosed that he is constrained to speak about Benjamin’s case as it is still pending before an Abuja High Court, noting that Zinox had also slammed a N2BN defamation suit on Premium Times which the defendant had been using for his campaign of blackmail.

According to Ezuka, Premium Times is yet to file its defense on the defamation case over two months since it was instituted.

“The on-going case for which Joseph is currently being prosecuted is between Citadel Oracle Concepts and another company which our Chairman has shares in. That company is Technology Distributions (TD), the biggest ICT products distributor in Sub-Saharan African representing major IT brands like HP, Lenovo, Dell, Microsoft and many others. TD is a totally different company from Zinox with different directors, shareholders, management team and a different line of business and Zinox was not in any way involved in the transaction,” he explained.

APGA goes to Tribunal over Anambra elections

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Nigeria, Friday submitted its petitions to the Election Tribunals over the Anambra State elections, reports ITRealms.

This, ITRealms gathered was in line with the electoral laws  for immediate review before the deadline as allowed by Nigerian electoral laws. 

ITRealms recalls that in Anambra State, the officials of the party alongside the aggrieved candidates from the three senatorial zones and nine aggrieved Federal constituencies in Anambra State, handed in their petition to the party headquarters, which was forwarded and submitted to the Election Tribunal at Awka.

 National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Okwukwe Ibiam, told ITRealms that in Abia State for instance, the party's 3 senatorial candidates have submitted their petitions and await the tribunals' invitation, even as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cancelled the Abia Central senatorial results

He also said that APGA candidates from Imo, Zamfara and Nassarawa States, have eqally asked for outright rejection of the national and state legislative polls in their various states.

"There was elation by the crowd at INEC headquarters, Awka, as facts continue to emerge that the announced National Assembly results were simply written and handed to the electoral officers to call," part of the press statement made available to ITRealms read.
