What makes a good website? - ITREALMS

When you are designing a website, there is often a right way to do it, and a wrong way to do it. No matter whether the website is for a personal project or a professional matter, you need to make sure that it is up to a certain standard. Let’s take a closer look at what precisely makes a good website.

Good Design

Every good website has a great design. Web pages that use an older design or font instantly look outdated compared to the others. You need to ensure that you are always using a design that feels modern and fresh so visitors will want to stick around and see what you have to offer.

Good design is also informative. Any text on the website needs to be clear and easy to read. Take a look at a site like the NetBet online casino. You can easily find and read the information they have on offer here.

Safe and Secure

Security should be a No.1 priority for you as a website owner, especially if you are going to be building ecommerce into your site. If you are not, you still need to make sure you include the right checks. However, you also need to ensure that you are still placing stringent protections in place.

Mobile Compatible

It is thought that approximately three quarters of the world will access the internet exclusively via a smartphone by 2025. Mobile traffic is huge and you need to make sure that your site is optimised for these users.

A key indicator is often in the buttons. Optimised buttons will be slightly larger as they tend to be pushed with a finger and not a precise clicker like a mouse. Optimised websites will also snap and resize to the screen of the device they are viewed on.

Top 10 reasons every Nigerian business should own website - ITREALMS

MondayCommentary@ITREALMS:

Why every Nigerian business should have a website. While the overall performance of virtually every structure of the Nigerian society is discouraging and far behind that of other developed nations, the same cannot be said about its telecommunication sector due in part to the input of private investors. Yes, we lack the adequate social amenities required to have a healthy lifestyle as a nation, but we are not far behind in terms of digital presence on the cyberspace.

With an average of 103 million internet users in the last five month (Source: NCC), Nigeria is gradually becoming a nation where not having an online presence for a business will be akin to not having a business at all.

For the vast majority of internet users, the very first place they visit when they need information about any product or service is the internet. As such, the significance of having an Online presence cannot be overemphasized as it is gradually taking precedence over having a physical presence. In fact, the widespread use of the internet in Nigeria has made it possible for any business-minded individual to have a successful business without necessarily having a brick n mortar store/office.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at ten of the most important reasons why you should have a website as a Nigerian Business owner.

Increases turnover: The main aim of every business owner is to increase profit and reduce overhead cost without necessarily compromising on the quality of output. By having a fully optimized business website built by an experienced web development firm, your presence on Google’s SERP will significantly improve and you will, in turn, have higher leads which can be converted into sales.

Provides 24/7 virtual presence: Unlike a brick n mortar store/office where you will have to close at a specific time, having an effective website affords the owner around the clock presence. As a result, web visitors can always visit your website at any moment for information pertaining to the services you offer and maybe initiate transactions.

Cheaper Advert medium: Not only is advert placement via the cyberspace cheaper than that of other media tools like the television, radio and print media, it is also more effective and capable of producing higher leads due to the fact that lots of people are gradually spending more time on their internet-enabled smartphones and computers than on any other mass media tools.

Gives you the opportunity to stay ahead of your competitors: By having a virtual presence, you are not limited by physical space. As such, you can showcase as many items you want on your website without consuming extra space and incurring the additional cost of hiring more staff members.

Opportunity to attract clients beyond geographical boundaries: Unlike a physical store, having a business website affords you the opportunity to have clients that transcend beyond your present geographical boundary.

A streamlined marketing strategy: As a website owner, you get to receive data about web visitor’s interest. This gives you the opportunity to redesign your marketing strategy to target your potential clients alone.

Adds Credibility to your business: Regardless of the type of business you are running, having an operational website for your business boosts its public image as a reputable firm willing to adapt to new realities.

An automated customer support system: With a business website, you can save yourself from the additional stress and manpower required to attend to customers’ enquiries, requests and complaints by having a comprehensive FAQ, a chatbot and other automated media of communication preinstalled on your website.

An easier alternative for clients: Even in states where traffic congestion is almost non-existent, the majority will still prefer to have their commodity of choice delivered to their doorstep instead of having to be in a brick n mortar store/office for purchases. By consulting us at Lead web, we can help you integrate the home delivery and other customer-friendly media available to make transactions seamless for your clients.

Increase your client’s base: Should your existing clients be kind enough to use the review option to share their experience with the public, this will inevitably increase your client base as long as the comments are positive.

Keep in mind that the above is definitely not an exclusive list of the opportunities associated with having a business website in Nigeria since discoveries are still being unveiled. You should also know that your chances of maximizing the plethora of opportunities floating on the cyberspace depend largely on the web development agency you contacted for this service.

We provide a flexible payment plan and there is a website for every budget(i.e Small business or Hybrid Business). For more information about the steps required to own an effective business website in Nigeria, you can contact us.

Lagos explains website to verify plate numbers by MVAA

The Lagos State Government has explained the reasons behind its recent creation of a website, www.lsmvaapvs.org, to verify plate numbers issued by the State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), reports ITRealms.

Disclosing this, the General Manager, MVAA, Lagos, Mr. Lateef Lawal, said that through the website, motorists and law enforcement agencies could confirm the authenticity of number plates issued in Lagos by the agency.

“The platform also became necessary in order to eradicate the unnecessary harassment of licensees by officials of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other Security Agencies,” he declared.

Pointing out that the situation became worrisome and embarrassing to the State Government and its clients when incessant reports, calls, Short Messaging Service (SMS), e-mails and visits from licensees that vehicles duly registered with Lagos State number plates were being impounded by FRSC and other security officials.

He therefore urged the public, particularly car owners, FRSC and security agencies to visit the MVAA’s website at www.lsmvaapvs.org to verify the authenticity of number plates issued by the MVAA.

“The site is easy to navigate, once logged in, type in the number plate and wait for the confirmation of the details of the vehicle,” he emphasized.

While wishing Lagosians a joyful yuletide and prosperous 2017, Lawal enjoined motorists to comply with driving rules and make sure that their vehicle particulars are up-to- date in order to avoid being penalized by the authorities concerned during the period.

Exclusive: APC.com.ng still under maintenance

Days after the All Progressive Congress (APC) under the aegis of Buhari-Osibanjo Presidential Campaign Organisation led by Gov. Babatunde Fashola accused the Federal Government (FG) of shutting down its website, www.APC.com.ng own by the party remained under maintenance, as ITRealms can authoritatively reports.

Although the managers of .NG registry in the country, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) had earlier cleared the air on the accusation, as gathered by ITRealms, maintained that there was no directive to the effect of the allegation by APC; the party is yet to launch any known investigation in-house to determine why it choose to host its website on www.apc.org, which translates to capital flight as far as Nigeria is concerned.

This according to an industry observer who spoke to ITRealms on anonymity shows how unreliable the party leadership is and their determination to create more capital flight-induced economy.

Officials of NIRA had in the response to the allegation of shutting down the website explained to ITRealms that they as registry of .NG operates 3R model, which entails Registry, Registrar,
Registrant, therefore registrants on .NG go through their registrars who are usually accredited to get NIRA services as registry.

ITRealms, further reports that capital flight entails taking the jobs or economic values available to Nigerians to foreigners or simply out of the country.

According to the Wikipedia, “Capital flight, in economics, occurs when assets or money rapidly flow out of a country, due to an event of economic consequence.”

While Investopedia, described capital flight as “A large-scale exodus of financial assets and capital from a nation due to events such as political or economic instability, currency devaluation or the imposition of capital controls.”

The Defence Headquarters has affirmed the hacking of its website, which has also been restored, while industry watchers are fingering sympathisers of the main opposition, the All Progressive Congress (APC), reports ITRealms.

A press statement signed by Major General Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information, was quoted as “The site was defaced at the front end. However, the hackers could not infiltrate the database of the site.”

“Preliminary investigation shows that the attack was from the end of the site’s host. One Ima Sadiq who posed as the hacker has been knocked off and normal activities on the channel has resumed.

“Apparently, the blog site was targeted because of its role as a major channel for disseminating information on military and security activities in the nation’s counter-terrorism campaign," he said.

Just as industry watchers were awash with arguments with some insisting that the said Ima Sadiq may have hacked the defence headquarters website in sympathy to the APC who recently denied.
