Implemented through a joint framework involving the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and participating mobile network operators, the initiative provides subscribers with zero-tariff access to accredited online learning platforms.
Under the operational structure, ITREALMS gathered that learners are allocated a daily threshold of 100MB dedicated exclusively to educational content, examination preparation, research, and interactive learning modules without incurring data charges.
In an official statement signed by ALTON Chairman Engr. Gbenga Adebayo and Publicity Secretary Sir Damian Udeh, the industry body emphasized that digital connectivity remains the bedrock of Nigeria's emerging knowledge economy.
The association noted that removing financial barriers to digital instructional materials ensures equitable access for students, teachers, and researchers across diverse socio-economic backgrounds and geographic locations.
ALTON commended the regulatory and policy leadership of the NCC and supervising ministries, stressing that the true return on digital infrastructure investment lies in transforming learning outcomes, deepening national digital literacy, and building a competitive workforce.
The telecoms industry umbrella group reaffirmed the commitment of its member operators to sustain network availability, ensure seamless platform access, and collaborate with public sector stakeholders to deepen digital learning nationwide.
