MultiChoice extends call center service hours for festive season

MultiChoice Nigeria has reiterated commitment for better service delivery to its customers this Yelutide season by extending Call Centre operating hours, reports ITRealms.

The Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, disclosed this in Lagos to ITRealms, saying that the extension was in bid to shape the business anticipation of customer needs.

He also said MultiChoice call centre operating hours will now be from 8 am to 12 am Monday to Sunday from December 4th till the 31, 2017.

He explained that normal operating hours of 8am to 9pm will resume from 1st January, 2018.

Ugbe pointed out that the extension of the Call Centre operating hours is one of the ways the company is making it easier for customers to reach and get support during the festive season.

"By extending our operating hours, we will be able to enhance the level of service delivery this yuletide in a significant way,” Ugbe said.

He further said that the company takes a ‘customer first’ approach which involves anticipating customer needs, especially during the festive season when families are expected to often sit together at home to enjoy. 

"They may also need to make enquiries or find out more about other products or services," he declared, stressing his team remain committed to implementing solutions that will resonate with customers and lead to improved customer service. 

He assured that MultiChoice toll free numbers will be in full operation and available on major network providers. 

ITRealms recalls that the toll free lines are 09090630333 for Etisalat, 07080630333 for Airtel, 08113630333 for Glo and 08149860333 for MTN.

Equally,  ITRealms gathered that customers could also resolve queries through Twitter;@DStvNg and @GOtvNg.

TVC consumates DStv, GOtv partnership

Foremost media organization, the Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS) has reaffirmed its determination to be in the forefront of sharing African stories as the company Thursday in Lagos, consummated partnership with MultiChoice Nigeria on DStv and GOTv, reports ITRealms.

This brings TVC to be among African channels making the continent proud on both DSTv and GOTv respectively in the company’s quest to democratize information for the African populace.

The Chief Executive Officer, CBS, Mr. Nigel Parsons said at the launch of the channels that CBS has continued to deepen information penetration and reach Africa-wide.

TVC News Nigeria, he said, is now available on DStv channel 418 and GOtv channel 45, while TVC Entertainment is on GOtv channel 27.

He also described the partnership with MultiChoice Africa, operators of DSTv and GOTv as reinforcing TVC’s vision of being the continent’s first truly pan-African 24-hour news station, 24-hour Nigeria-centric news channel and 24/7 entertainment channel.

For the Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe, who was represented at the occasion by the Public Relations Manager, Ms Caroline Oghuma, welcomed the addition of homegrown channels on the DStv and GOtv platforms, saying he believes both play a pivotal role in showcasing the channels’ rich content to the rest of Africa.

“We are deeply committed to Africa and support the growth of original African programming. The collaboration with Continental Broadcasting Service will complement and expand our range of quality local content on our platforms,” he said.

Lagos gets additional MultiChoice resource centres

Acclaimed leading pay-TV operator, MultiChoice, has completed some three new resource centers for Lagos State, which brings Lagos centres to 18, reports DigitalSENSE Business News.

This, DigitalSENSE Business News gathered brings to to 312 in 29 states, since Multichoice resource centre project commenced in 2004.

The programme which is in its eighth phase, DigitalSENSE Business News gathered from the Public Relations (PR) Manager, DStv, Ms Caroline Oghuma that each benefiting school receives a TV set, high definition personal video recorder (HDPVR) decoder, generating set, complimentary subscription to DStv education bouquet, which contains BBC World, BBC Knowledge, National Geography, Animal Planet, National Geography Wild, History Channel, Learn and ED channel, as well as facilities such as chairs and tables, among others.

She also quoted the Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, operators of DSTv, Mr John Ugbe, as saying at Eti-Osa Community Senior Secondary School, Sangotedo, Lagos, that the resource centre project is MultiChoice’s way of promoting the use of integrated and communication technologies to raise the standard of education by deploying the imagery of sight and sound to make learning more vivid and creative.

“At MultiChoice, we have a strong conviction that the technological, economic, social and political advancement of any country has a direct correlation with its level of educational development and that the future of a country is intrinsically tied to the quality of education that the youths are exposed to,” he said, enjoining the 10 benefiting schools to maximize the use of the resource centres.

Mrs Aderonke Bello, Managing Director, Innovative Technology Literacy Services Limited (ITLS), the implementing partner for the MRC project, was also quoted in a press statement made available to DigitalSENSE Business News that “Technology investment in schools is on the increase, and the deployment of satellite television to enhance learning is one key initiative that has helped to bridge the digital divide in rural communities. While technology will not replace teachers and textbooks, research has shown that technology-mediated learning environments provide immense opportunities for learners and lead inevitably to better teaching and learning outcomes.”

She commended MultiChoice for giving back to the community and adding value to Nigeria’s education sector. 

“It is expected that all trained teachers will make good use of their acquired knowledge to bring the often abstract, distant worlds of science into close focus and within the personal, meaningful realm of each student,” she said.

Director, Co-Curriculum, Science & Technology, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs Mary Oyetunde, applauded MultiChoice for the MRC initiative, describing it as complementary to Lagos State’s effort to provide improved facilities for enhanced teaching and learning. “MultiChoice Resource Centre project facilitates e-learning, as our students can now utilize the satellite TV technology to obtain relevant facts and latest development in subject areas that have hitherto proved difficult to understand,” she said.
