The United Nations (UN) and its partners have launched their global humanitarian appeal, known as the Global Humanitarian Overview 2026, calling urgently for worldwide solidarity to address the life-threatening crises stemming from wars, climate disasters, earthquakes, epidemics, and crop failures across the globe, reports ITREALMS.

The immediate priority for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is to save 87 million lives with an immediate funding need of US$23 billion. The overarching aim for 2026 is to raise a total of US$33 billion to support 135 million people across 23 country operations and six plans dedicated to refugees and migrants.

The national body of information management systems professionals in the aviation industry, under the aegies of Aeronautical Information Management Association of Nigeria (AIMAN) has applauded the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, for facilitating the approval of a N40 billion intervention fund for Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) operations, reports ITREALMS.

The president of AIMAN, Sir Williams Ngerem, gave this applause on behalf of the group while speaking at the 2024 World Aeronautical Information System (AIS) day celebration, at the Lagos Travel Inn, Ikeja, with the theme, “Efficient Data Management in an Automated Environment” saying that intervention fund for NAMA would go a long way in completion of AIS automation.

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), in collaboration with COGINTA Non Governmental Organisation, has taken a significant step towards uplifting the Daboulda community in Blangua, Sector 1, Cameroon, reports ITREALMS.

As part of its Civil-Military activities, the MNJTF donated educational materials, structures and a borehole for water supply on August 28, 2023.

AIDFA Summit 2016 to focus on technological innovations

The Aid & International Development Forum Africa (AIDFA) Summit 2016 holding in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will focus on technological innovations and best practice to improve aid delivery and development strategy in East Africa, ITRealms reports. The summit which will take place between February 2 to 3, at the United Nations Conference Centre, will play host to more than 250 senior representatives and advisors from regional governments, UN agencies, international and regional NGOs, CBOs, investors and donors, research institutes and the private sector. The AIDF, ITRealms gathered, has been building long-lasting partnerships between key actors in the humanitarian and development sectors for over 13 years. The agenda has been developed in consultation with key organisations, such as WFP, IRFC, World Vision, USAID, UNICEF, World Bank, Save the Children, UN Habitat, CRS, FHI360, Oxfam, Habitat for Humanity International, IRD and will include case studies, panel discussions, workshops, and interactive roundtable sessions. According to a press release by AIDF, the summit will provide comprehensive overview of the latest trends around humanitarian logistics, community health, security of aid workers and communities, camp management, mobile for development, financing, communication with communities and among aid agencies. The unique event format combines high level strategic information with multiple specialist topic tracks and structured networking as well as peer-to peer round table discussions enabling full and frank sharing of views, experience and vital feedback within the community.
