NITDA bill 2022 lacks stakeholders input says NCS, seeks complete withdrawal – ITREALMS

The umbrella body of Information Technology (IT) professionals in the country, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has asked the Executive arm of the Federal Government to immediately withdraw the bill before the National Assembly for the amendment of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Act 2007, because it lacks stakeholders input, reports

This call was made by NCS President, Prof. Adesina Sodiya while reviewing the industry with 
ITREALMS on Tuesday in Lagos, insisting that the current bill as presented lacks any stakeholder input in entirety, as most of the inputs were merely collated but jettisoned eventually.

CBN revisits withdrawal limits, fixes .5m & 5m for individuals, corporates - ITREALMS

In obvious surrender to the public pressure and outcry over the recent proclamations by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the apex bank, has increased the weekly limit for cash withdrawals across all channels by individuals and corporate organisations to N500,000 and N5 million, in that order, reports ITREALMS.
A letter to financial institutions on Thursday, dated December 21, 2022, and signed by the Director, Banking Supervision at CBN, Haruna B. Mustafa, alluded to the fact that they are a listening organisation by increasing withdrawals against earlier announced.

ASUU records casualty as IBBUL's professor withdraws - ITREALMS

The prolonged industrial strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suffered an impact on Sunday as a member of the union in Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lampai (IBBUL), Niger State, Prof. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, formally tendered a letter withdrawing his membership with immediate effect.

The letter, dated 28-08-2022, drew its inference from the 196-day strike action on the directive of national body, leading to the union denigrating states-owned universities as quacks and irrelevant for not participating in the strike.

IPI Nigeria calls for withdrawal of vexatious charges against WikkiTimes - ITREALMS

International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria has noted with concern the arrest, detention and subsequent arraignment before a magistrate court in Bauchi of the publisher of WikkiTimes online newspaper, Mr. Haruna Mohammed and a reporter, Mr. Idris Kamal, by the police in Bauchi.
The journalists claimed that they were physically assaulted while they were in detention.
