Place premium on life to curb suicide, abortions - Chigbogwu

Celebrated motivational speaker, Mrs. Ifeoma Chigbogwu, has waded into the recent incidences of suicide in Nigeria and urged citizens to place a high value on their lives by avoiding voluntary deaths, reports ITRealms.

Also, she expressed concerns over the termination of the lives of unborn children through voluntary abortions.

In her latest monthly YouTube video message entitled “Why end life that is not yours”, the award-winning author advised those at risk not to succumb to the urges despite challenging circumstances.

Chigbogwu conceded that sad and rough situations, including disappointments in relationships and inability of an accused to state his case in a matter might trigger the conscious choices of suicide and abortion.

She, however, advised her audience that “whether you want to terminate your life or the life of an unborn baby, you are killing yourself or killing a part of yourself.”

The blogger added that “suicide is exit from transcendental reality and a defeatist approach to solving life’s problems.”

Basing her advice on scriptural convictions, Chigbogwu stated that suicide and abortions are infractions against divinity, humanity and self.

“You do not own life, it does not belong to you but to God. It is in God’s hands and you have no right to end it.

“Do not end stories that you are not telling before they are finished. You are just an actor and not the author of life”, the relationship expert advised.

She encouraged sober reflection on the part of those contemplating suicide and abortion and urged them to remain hopeful for better times and seek ways to improve their self-worth.

“Refuse, reject and resist being a loser or a failure”, Chigbogwu said.

Internet opportunities: Africa, the place to be

Despite dismal domain names currently on the continent of Africa, the chairman, Board of Directors, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Dr. Steve Crocker, has expressed optimism on Internet opportunities in Africa, reports ITRealms.

Speaking as a special guest at the outreach session organized by the Africa Regional At-Large Organisations (AFRALO) as part of the sideline events of ICANN59 public policy forum, Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Though he noted that the Continent may be going through some challenges at the moment, Crocker was optimistic that Africa has the business opportunities, so “this is the place to be.”

He further told participants made up of At-Large Structures (ALSes) and students from University of Johannesburg, that new ideas are always welcome and encouraged the students to take active part in ICANN59 and At-Large in general.

“Don’t hesitate to ask questions,” he urged.

Family, place of forgiveness …

There is no perfect family. We do not have perfect parents, we are not perfect, we do not marry a perfect person or have perfect children.

We have complaints from each other. We disappoint each other. So there is no healthy marriage or healthy family without the exercise of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is vital to our emotional health and spiritual survival. Without forgiveness the family becomes an arena of conflict and a stronghold of hurt.

Without forgiveness, the family becomes ill. Forgiveness is the sepsis of the soul, the cleansing of the mind and the liberation of the heart.

Whoever does not forgive does not have peace in the soul nor communion with God. Hurt is poison that intoxicates and kills. Keeping heartache in the heart is a self-destructive gesture. It's autophagy.

Those who do not forgive are physically, emotionally and spiritually ill.

That is why the family must be a place of life, not of death;

Territory of cure and not of illness;

Stage of forgiveness and not guilt.

Forgiveness brings joy where sorrow has produced sadness;

Healing, where sorrow has caused disease.

41 items policy remains in place - CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has denied any changes in its 41 items policy, declaring the guideline remain unchanged, reports ITRealms.

According to the acting director, Corporate Communications at CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, in a press statement made available to ITRealms, said the attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been drawn to some media reports to the effect that the CBN has reversed part of its policy on some import items ineligible for foreign exchange (forex).

“We wish to state that these reports and their interpretations are wrong. The CBN has not reversed its policy on the 41 items ineligible for forex through the Nigerian forex market,” he said.

Okorafor said that the reports appeared to be a misinterpretation of CBN circular titled “Revised Documentation Requirements for Allocation of Foreign Exchange for Small-Scale Importation” dated May 03, 2017, to the effect that importers of items classified as "ineligible for Forex" with transactions value of $20,000 and below per quarter shall now qualify for allocation of foreign exchange subject to the completion of form Q".

This provision, Okorafor explained, does not refer to the 41 items that remain ineligible for forex sale in the Nigerian Forex market.

“We therefore urge the media and the general public to take note,” he insisted.

40-yr after: Usman Dan Fodio, Bayero Universities deny Christains access to erect churches – CBCN

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has lamented that after 40 years, the two universities in the north have persistently denied Christian access to erect a worshiping place in their campuses, reports ITRealms.

This revelation was made by President of CBCN, Bishop Ignatius Kaigama when he led his administrative members on courtesy call to President Muhammadu Buhari at State House, Abuja.

“We bring to your notice that sad enough, Christians are still unable to erect places of worship in Federal Universities in the northern states,” the bishops said.

Pointing out that after 40 years, the aforementioned two universities, for example, have out-rightly denied Christians access to lands already in the plans for the erection of Churches, in spite of their being so many mosques built by the university authorities.

They also noted that in some northern states, “it is such a herculean task for Christians to obtain certificates of occupancy to build Churches in some northern States. We urge you to kindly encourage State governments to kindly enforce the freedom of religion enshrined in our Constitution.
