Soludo gifts Anambra teachers 2,000 laptops - ITREALMS

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has gifted some 2,000 brand new laptops to headteachers, ICT teachers, and principals of public and public-mission schools across the state, reports ITREALMS.

The distribution held Tuesday, 12th March, 2024, ITREALMS gathered, aligned with the vision of Mr. Governor, which the Anambra State ICT Agency is driving, to ensure the full digitization of all sectors of the state economy.

The Nigeria Police, on Tuesday arrested a couple of cyber criminals suspected to have aided the manipulations of the 2023 General Elections,

Armed assailants attacked Lanre Suraju and family: Car, laptops, phones, bank token stolen - ITREALMS

About five armed men have invaded the home of Mr Olanrewaju Suraju, Chairman of HEDA Resource Centre and carted away 5 phones including 1 Samsung phone, 2 iPhones, 2 iPads; 2 Macbook pro laptops, a Dell laptop, a Toyota Corolla 2014 car, jewelries, ATM cards, cars keys, Bank Tokens, office documents among other valuables belonging to Mr Suraju and his family.

The assailants who were heavily armed with guns, knives and other dangerous weapons also threatened to kill Mr Suraju, physically hit him and his wife both of whom had to be hospitalised.

Turkish Airlines offers laptops on-board for BC passengers

As a result of the recent ban on use of information and communication technology (ICT) gadgets and other electronic devices on United Kingdom and United States-bound flights by the authorities, Turkish Airlines has provided an alternative way of making its passengers access state-of-the-art laptop onboard to continue with their business, reports ITRealms.

The service, ITRealms gathered, is touted as yet another innovation from Turkish Airlines for its U.S. and U.K. bound flights, would be accessible to Nigerian passengers and other nationalities, who are business class (BC) passengers of the flights.

Turkish Airline in a press statement made available to ITRealms, affirmed this development, saying that its flights to the most countries of the world, would continue to evolve new solutions for its passengers with respect to the electronics ban, applied on US and UK-bound flights.

“The national flag carrier has now started to offer laptops for its business class passengers of U.S. bound flights as from today. It will also launch the same practice for its U.K. bound business class passengers as of 12th May, 2017,” the statement said.

By the new service, Turkish Airlines said those passengers will be able to uninterruptedly be taken up with their personal things to do on their laptops above the clouds, while they can experience the Planet, seamless in-flight entertainment system of Turkish Airlines, on the other side.

“Within the context of this new practice, those passengers who deliver their personal laptops to the authorized TK staff before their flight, can request a laptop from the cabin crew in order to follow their business or personal processes on-board during the flight.

“Those laptops, that have the feature of being a tablet after being folded and as well as a touchscreen property, will be offered through a high security system which protect the personal information/works of the passengers by automatically and permanently deleting them all from the system when the notebook computer having shut down,” the airline said.

However, “if those passengers who wish to make a copy from those personal works to an USB memory stick, can easily do that,” said the statement.

Gov. Emmanuel lifts Oracle trainees with 200 laptops

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmmanuel has fulfilled the promise he made to the youths in the state when he commissioned Oracle Database Administration training in August, 2015, with a donation of some 200 laptops to trainee, reports ITRealms.

At the event marking the commissioning of Pearson VUE e-Testing Centre in Akwa Ibom State and the graduation of the 1st batch of Oracle Database Administation trainees, Governor Udom Emmanuel donated 200 brand new laptops to successful trainees.

The Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Elizabeth Obot, who represented the Governor at the ceremony acknowledged the foresightedness of Governor Udom Emmanuel in initiating the Oracle training and also attracting the Pearson VUE Test Centre to Akwa Ibom State. With the siting of Pearson VUE e-Testing Centre in Akwa Ibom State, the graduands and other persons interested in acquiring Oracle and other IT certifications within the south-south region now have the opportunity to do so without any recourse to travel abroad.

The Commissioner, however charged the graduands to make good use of the Governor's magnanimity in this gesture and serve as a role model to the Superior Performing Administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Technology Dr. Nestor Udoh who is also the Dean, College of Permanent Secretaries, in his remarks, commend the governor for this bold initiative, which is expected shall provide jobs for our teaming youths. He noted further that "Akwa Ibom State Governor believes that it is not enough to train people on fishing, you must provide them with the fishing equipment, this explains why each of the two hundred graduands has today been given a brand new laptop each".

The ICT aide to the Governor, Engr. Eyo applauded the Governor in this unique choice of investment in human capital development.

"This pool of ICT proficiencies are the required hands-on for the industrialization vision of His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel.

As the administrator of Akwa Ibom State website, analytic report shows 77,000 weekly visitors to investment opportunities page on Akwa Ibom State website. It is these graduands of Oracle Database Administration that will offer technical support services to the above prospective investors to Akwa Ibom State.
