Real losers of 2023 Nigerian general elections are not the electorate who were deprived of their rights to freely choose candidates of their choice nor the first-timer youth who were disappointed by the Nigerian state nor the candidates who lost or won as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Except for Bola Tinubu who carries the burden of legitimacy arising from flawed process and total miniature votes garnered, the others will live with scar and collective guilt slammed on the country by ethical deficit in delivery process of the elections.

With general disenchantment over the conduct of the 2023 Nigerian general elections by over 145,000 national and foreign observers deployed across the country, INEC failed to leave a split opinion on its capacity to conduct a free, fair and credible elections, a development that will hunt Mahood Yakubu, Mohammed Buhari and Nigeria for a long time to come. The exercise was not only a horrendous phenomenon on the psyche of Nigerians but a fleeting nightmare.

The latest edition of a mega Gospel Catholic concert, Unusual Praise 2017, has received a boost with Yudala throwing its weight behind the event to be held in December, this year in Lagos, reports ITRealms.

The event expected to attract a host of top Gospel artistes from Nigeria and beyond, ITRealms reports promises to be a night of divine praise, worship and blessings, and has been scheduled for Saturday, December 9^th 2017 at Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

Hosted by the Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, Lekki, Unusual Praise 2017 is expected to surpass the massive turn-out recorded in previous editions of an event widely touted as the biggest Catholic Gospel concert in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Already, excitement is building up for the event which will feature a strong cast of Gospel Ministers numbering over 20 drawn from the genres of Rock Gospel, Urban Contemporary and Soul Gospel, among others.

Apart from increasing the number of top brands and other corporate organizations that have identified with the event, Yudala’s participation at the event will go a long way to raise the profile of the Gospel Concert which is expected to draw worshippers from all over the country and other nearby African countries.

In addition to the unique ambience it offers for Christians from all denominations to gather in praise and worship to God, Unusual Praise 2017 will also witness an extra dimension in welfare with the provision of food and drinks for all attendees. Plans are also being made to provide free buses to convey worshippers from various locations in Lagos to and from the venue.

UK biggest donor supporting UNICEF @northeast response

The United Kingdom (UK) has been identified as one of the biggest donors supporting UNICEF’s humanitarian response in northeast Nigeria, as well as its work in other parts of the country, reports ITRealms.

A press release by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), quoted the International Development Secretary Priti Patel as revealing a new package of humanitarian support during the visit.

“Parts of northeast Nigeria including ‎the outskirts of Maiduguri - a city that the Secretaries of State visited - have been decimated by attacks from Boko Haram. The militant group have killed over 20,000 people, displaced 1.7 million and left 8.5 million in desperate need of urgent support. Ongoing attacks continue to destroy communities, with recent reports of children being forced to carry suicide bombs,” part of the statement read.

ITRealms gathered, UK increased support would extend DFID’s humanitarian programme in Nigeria over five years (2017-2022) to deliver: lifesaving food for more than 1.5 million people; treatment for up to 120,000 children at risk of dying from malnutrition-related causes; ongoing support to help keep 100,000 girls and boys in education, providing a brighter future for the next generation; and humanitarian access to transport aid workers delivering assistance to the hardest to reach areas, for example using helicopters where roads are blocked or dangerous to use.

  

“It is catastrophic that at least 20,000 people have been murdered by Boko Haram’s terrorist regime, and over five million people have been left hungry and many homeless. Babies’ bodies are shutting down and mothers who have lost everything are fighting to keep their children alive. 

“Global Britain is a country that stands tall in the world and the UK will not turn its back on people living in danger and desperation,” Priti Patel.
