The Yoruba Women in South-West led by Iyalode Alaba Lawson, have congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the President-Elect in Nigeria and prayed God to give him wisdom to rule the country successfully.

The congratulate letter signed by Lawson and copy made available to journalists called on Tinubu to form his cabinet with people of integrity in helping him to take the country to greater height.

It has been uncovered that Bola Ahmed Tinubu's camp for the 2023 general election, is paying some Yoruba youth to use fake Igbo names to push inciting tribal narratives on social media, reports ITREALMS.

Confirming this, a seasoned tweep identified as Ade Razak @AdeRazakGold on Twitter, busted the secret plans by those he called 'Tinubu’s camp' to unleash hate speeches and push tribal content to pitch Yorubas against Ndigbo.

The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, declared that the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, is a huge loss to the state, Nigeria and the Yoruba race.

Adisa commends Yoruba summit on restructuring

An Ibadan-based development expert and founder, Guildance Community Development Foundation, Mr Kabiru Adisa, has commended Yoruba leaders for convening the Yoruba Summit that deliberated on restructuring and other associated issue, reports ITRealms.

This was contained in a press release issued on Sunday by the chartered accountant and development expert and made available to ITRealms.

“I find it gladdening that Yoruba leaders are now following up their restructuring demand with concrete plans. It is easy to just shout slogan without providing specifics. With the specifics on restructuring contained in the Summit communique, I have no doubt that we are now getting somewhere on the issue and we can now have the much needed debate using this,” Adisa said.

He however cautioned restructuring agitators against failing to take the aspirations and feelings of other Nigerians into account.

“I am a bit worried that some of these agitations are not creating common ground with regions that may not be disposed to restructuring. There are regions that may feel that restructuring is not in their best interest as it threatens to stop the federal allocation that is responsible for keep their regions running,” he said.

“If you are saying restructuring will take away that allocation, how exactly do you want the regions to support your proposal when such support is practically a suicide? Therefore, restructuring agitators must come up with a compromise that will interest these other important regions. We could look at reducing federal allocation to states over a period of years that would allow all regions time to create new revenue sources. With a compromise like this, the restructuring agitation may be dead on arrival.”

Adisa also emphasized the importance of ensuring that restructured federation does not suffer the same case of mismanagement of resources and power that Nigeria is currently suffering.

“I really hope that restructuring does not mean running around a vicious cycle. If we are not going to import people to run the restructured Nigeria, then we need to ensure that the new system is better designed to prevent mismanagement. We currently have out of control governors in many states; we need to make sure that restructuring does not end up creating more uncontrollable regional leaders.”

“We also need to create a reliable national database so that planning will be based on actual data on not fabricated data. Every Nigerian must be captured in the national identity database which must further be connected to BVN, international passport, driving license and others. A restructured Nigeria cannot thrive without this system,” he concluded.

‘How and Why the Yoruba Fought and Lost the Biafra-Nigeria Civil War’ book for launch

A new book, “How and Why the Yoruba Fought and Lost the Biafra-Nigeria Civil War’’ authored by a renowned columnist, Dr Jimanze Ego-Alowes would be officially presented to the public on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Lagos, reports ITRealms.

A press statement confirming this and made available to ITRealms, the author says the launch would hold at the Best Western Starfire Hotel, GRA Ikeja.

According to him, the book which focuses on the roles the regions and their lead personages played in the events of and leading to the civil war has been dubbed as “controversial” with a potential to becoming the book of the year 2016.

Equally, the book re-evaluates the roles of major characters in the war and the events that followed, including Generals Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Yakubu Gowon, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Professors Wole Soyinka, Ben Nwabueze, amongst others.

ITRealms gathered that the consensus amongst previewers has been that this is a brave new reinterpretation of our history in the light of strict logic and universally accepted axioms.

The book launch, the author further said, is expected to attract the cream of Nigeria’s intellectual and journalistic elites, including Gbolagbo Ogunsanwo, Eric Osagie,Odia Ofeimum, Ikeddy Isuguzo,Henry Boyo, Steve Nwosu, Tony Onyima, Onuoha Ukeh to name a few.

Jimanze is the author of several books including the “Minorities as Competitive Overlords” which has been critically well received as a major to contribution knowledge across the several disciplines of sociology, economics and history.

He equally anchors a popular and well-received column, ‘The Turf Game’ for the Daily Sun newspapers.

The purpose of the book, Jimanze said is to awaken Nigerians to the need of “never finishing the tale. No great narrative has an end. History never finishes.”
