Gbenga Aruleba @60, a worthy ambassador of Ekiti says Fayemi - ITREALMS

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has described a renowned broadcast journalist, Mr. Gbenga Aruleba, as worthy ambasssador of the state, as he marks his 60th birthday, reports ITREALMS.

Dr. Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, said Aruleba has found the favour of the Almighty attaining the diamond age in good health and fulfilment.

The Governor noted that Aruleba, who hails from Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, is a worthy ambassador of the Land of Honour and an example of the noble ideals Ekitis are known for.

Aruleba, according to the Governor, had a stellar broadcasting career and acquired local and international recognition with his unique presentation style especially in his popular news and current affairs programme, FOCUS NIGERIA, on Africa Independent Television (AIT).

The Governor hailed Aruleba's contributions to the sustenance of democracy, rule of law, good governance, probity, accountability and transparency.

He described Aruleba as a highly cerebral political analyst, a great presenter, dedicated producer and a reformer who make use of his media platform to advocate a better Nigeria and speak truth to power.

Describing Aruleba as a committed patriot who loved his home state dearly, Dr. Fayemi recalled that the celebrated broadcast journalist is always ready to make his services available to his state of origin whenever he is called upon.

He recalled Aruleba's contributions as a member of the Fact-Finding Committee that investigated the running of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) by the past administration joining other panelists to come up with appropriate recommendations.

The Governor said the recommendation of the Panel, of which Aruleba served as a member, has gone a long way in repositioning the state-owned media corporation which has become more efficient, professional and impartial in news reportage.

Dr. Fayemi prayed God to grant Aruleba long life, good health and more fruitful years to continue to serve Ekiti and Nigeria meritoriously.

Danbatta is Nigeria’s Security, Emergency Management Ambassador - ITREALMS

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has been recognised as Nigeria’s Goodwill Ambassador for Security and Emergency Management in Nigeria (SAEMN), reports ITREALMS.

This, ITREALMS gathered was in recognition of his efforts towards fast-tracking implementation of Emergency Communication Centres (ECCs) especially at a time the country is faced with a number of security situations, as before his appointment in 2015 no single emergency communications center was operational in the country but Nigeria boasts on 18 centers now.

Danbatta received the recognition at the first-ever Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA 2019) organised in Abuja by the Emergency Digest, a publication of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, in conjunction with the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC).

At the event, which was attended by many stakeholders, particularly agencies in the security governance sector, Danbatta beat other contenders and nominees in the category to emerge winner for his proactive decision to activate and oxygenate the implementation of ECC across states of the Federation and federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja.

The NCC, as a corporate entity, was also recognised with the Corporate Social responsibility Award in Security and Emergency Management in the country.


On assuming office as EVC of NCC in 2015, Danbatta quickly put machinery in place to accelerate the implementation of ECC across the country in line with the decision of the Nigerian government to enhance security of lives and properties in the country and in line with the provision of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003.

Danbatta’s decision was based on his recognition of the NCC’s mandate in this regard, which is to promote and enhance public safety through the use of a particular number which shall be designed as the universal safety and emergency assistance number for telephone services generally; as well as encourage and facilitate the prompt deployment throughout Nigeria of seamless, ubiquitous and reliable end-to-end infrastructure for emergency communications needs.

Consequently, the Danbatta-led NCC has fully activated and operationalised ECC in 17 States across the country and the FCT. The list of the states include Benue, Kwara, Plateau, Kaduna , Kano, Katsina, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Imo, Enugu, Anambra and Adamawa.

Speaking during the presentation of the award to the EVC, the Chairman of Panel of Jury for SAEMA 2019, Mohammed Audu-Bida, said nominations for winners were based on verifiable outstanding performance and track record of excellence in the category for which the nomination was made.

According to him, a total of 254 entries were received for all the categories, out of which 136 nominees qualified for the competition. Thereafter, 54 finalists were selected by the jury from which 18 winners of the 18 categories emerged.

The Awards is instituted to recognise remarkable and invaluable contributions to the security, emergency management and peace development by individuals, groups and relevant stakeholders. The Award also recognises gallantry, rescue efforts, safety measures, teamwork and outstanding contributions to security and emergency management in Nigeria.

Wanted! Mentor for ICANN61 indigenous ambassador

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking a volunteer to serve as a mentor for the Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme during its forthcoming public meeting tagged ICANN61 holding in San Juan, Puerto Rico, reports ITRealms.

ICANN, ITRealms gathered proclaimed the creation of the Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme in June 2017.

ITRealms reports that the programme establishes two Indigenous Ambassadors, which will be selected from underrepresented indigenous communities, as well as one mentor, who must apply before 8 January, 2018.

This, ICANN said, would be done through the inclusion of a broader and more diverse base of knowledgeable constituents, pointing out that ICANN will be better equipped to support the next generation of the global Internet community.

Therefore, ICANN said, its now accepting applications for anyone interested in serving as a mentor for the two Global Indigenous Ambassadors during ICANN61.

Mentors must be familiar with ICANN and At-Large, and have been active in one of the constituencies. Mentors must also meet a number of criteria and follow the requirements for coaches as described in the ICANN Fellowship handbook [docs.google.com].


The selected mentor will receive travel and hotel accommodations, as well as a per diem, for ICANN61 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which will be held from 10-15 March 2018.

Bimbo Akintola joins CYIAC as Goodwill Ambassador



Notable Nollywood actress and Director of both TV Series and movies, Bimbo Akintola has joined the Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption (CYIAC) as its Goodwill Ambassador, reports ITRealms.

Bimbo’s appointment, ITRealms gathered is to help raise global awareness for the promotion of culture of integrity, curb corruption among children, youth and adults through creative, innovation and entrepreneurship development in Nigeria and Africa.

CYIAC campaign, ITRealms gathered, is focusing on corruption; which is the biggest impediments to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Also, CYIAC says its strategy is to promote creativity, develop talents and build confidence whilst encouraging culture of integrity. At CYIAC, children and youth are provided with capabilities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peace, justice and strong institutions and take bold steps in creating the future they desire through creative thinking and innovation.

Bimbo, a renowned, and award winning actress is a philanthropist who has dedicated her time and capital resources to helping those in need. In 2013 she took part in a walk to raise awareness for Breast and Prostate Cancer which took place in Lagos and a walk for Autism awareness in Abuja in 2014.

ITRealms recalls that every year, Bimbo finances and hosts a Christmas party for Children with special needs. Her passion to lead change in Children and Youth began in February 2017 on the platform of Vision of the Child. She continues her award winning career, spanning Nollywood, television as well as life theatre. She is one of the few Nollywood actresses who have extensive credits coupled with moral values in both Nollywood and on stage.

Bimbo with other notable achievers and game changers will officially launch CYIAC Corruption Busters (CCB) on December 9, 2017 to mark United Nations International Anti-Corruption Day.  

The CCB is CYIAC's contribution towards achieving global goals in 2030. In line with Sustainable Development Goal  (Goal 4, Goal 5, Goal 16, and Goal 17), CYIaC will achieve culture of integrity and communities free from corruption through educational development in Literary Arts, Paintings, Drama, Digital Communication, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Information Technology.

CCB educational series will be available for free download globally through CYIaC App and website- www.cyiac.com- on December 9, 2017, the event will also be streamed live for wider participation through virtual engagement.

ICANN creates Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has created a Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme (GIAP), reports ITRealms.

The programme, ITRealms gathered was established with two Indigenous Ambassadors, to be selected from underrepresented indigenous communities.

ICANN said that through the inclusion of a broader and more diverse base of knowledgeable constituents, it would be better equipped to support the next generation of the global Internet community.

"This is an exciting opportunity for two Indigenous Ambassadors to learn about ICANN and the At-Large community, representing the best interests of Internet end users," states Loris Taylor, President & CEO, Native Public Media.

ITRealms also reports that ICANN is now accepting applications for two Global Indigenous Ambassadors.

Applicants, ICANN said, must be members of unserved or underserved tribal or native communities and meet the ICANN Fellowship Program criteria[icann.org.


Selected participants will receive travel, hotel, and per diem for the ICANN60 Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to be held 28 October – 3 November 2017, while deadline for submitting applications is 6 July 2017.

Official: Frank Edward is Yudala brand ambassador

The Africa’s forerunner composite electronic-commerce company, Yudala, has signed-on multiple award-winning contemporary gospel artiste, Frank Edwards, as its brand ambassador, reports ITRealms.

In an official press statement, made available to ITRealms, Yudala added this signing on the heels of the Yudala Zero Gravity rock gospel concert held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on Sunday, from one of the ten major artistes featured at the concert.

By virtue of the agreement, Frank Edwards, who is renowned as a talented singer-songwriter, worship leader, musician, producer and sound engineer is expected to prominently represent the Yudala brand and feature heavily in the company’s marketing campaigns and consumer-focused strategies, while leveraging on his considerable following and popularity on social media to further deepen the brand’s growing impression in the market.

Jega bows out of INEC, hands over to Wali

 The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, today bowed out as the chairman of the apex electoral body in Nigeria just as Ambassador (Dr.) Mohammed Ahmed Wali has been appointed to take his seat in acting capacity, reports ITRealms.

 Wali, a Muslim, Fulani, hails from Sanyima town in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State in the North-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

ITRealms was informed that he will serve till August  2015 when a substantive INEC head will be chosen. Information from the grapevine also has it that the Ondo State Governor, Mimiko’s younger brother, is favoured to clinch the INEC exalted position.

Before his appointment as National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ambassador Wali was a Visiting Reader (Associate Professor) to the Department of Political Science, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and Chief Executive Officer, Development Strategies International (DSI).

Ambassador Wali is a member of various committees of INEC and the Chairman of the Tenders Board, ITRealms reports.
