The African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Development (AUDA-NEPAD) and Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening their collaborative efforts towards achieving shared objectives in peace and development solutions that protect and grow Africa’s economies and human well-being.

The three-year MoU was signed on the margins of the fourth Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development by Mrs. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, and Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Director-General of CCCPA.

The AUDA-NEPAD, supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has launched a report that provides lessons learned and the strides made over the last three years in accelerating healthcare innovation across the continent.

The AUDA-NEPAD Home-Grown Solutions Accelerator (HGS) aims to accelerate home-grown solutions to strengthen Africa's pandemic resilience, in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063 aspirations.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) have signed an agreement aimed at supporting African countries in their efforts to achieve the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

The agreement was signed  by IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera and AUDA-NEPAD CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas on the margins of Africa Climate Week in Nairobi.

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) has hosted a two-day workshop on biotechnology, gene editing, gene drive and synthetic biology for the African Biosafety Communication Network, from 25-26 October 2022 in Accra, Ghana, reports ITREALMS.

“Dealing with complex domains like biotechnology and related emerging technologies is a big challenge, in particular when these technologies seem beyond the understanding of the layman. Media experts play a key role in helping fill the knowledge gap with well-balanced and fact-based information,” Mr Eric Okoree, CEO of the National Biosafety Authority of Ghana and Chair of the meeting said. He welcomed participants and thanked AUDA-NEPAD for the capacity-building initiative.

The African Union Heads of State and Government has appointed Ms Nardos Bekele-Thomas as the new Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) reports ITREALMS.

She is the first woman to lead the African Union’s development agency.
