Top 5 United Nations World Summit awardees for MoDiTECH’19 - ITREALMS

The top five national nominees for the United Nations World Summit Awards Nigeria, would on Thursday, October 24, 2019 be unveiled to the nation’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, at the Mobile and Disruptive Technology Forum (ModiTECH’19) reports ITREALMS.

The nominees, 
ITREALMS gathered include @FARMZ2U, @CAMPUSTORCH, @OMOMI, @CHEKITT and @AFRIMART.

ITREALMS also gathered that nominees, include a past youth winner OMOMI, would be unveiled on that day by the WSA Eminent National Expert for Nigeria and President, Innovationbed.Africa present Innovationbed Periscope session, tagged "The Power of Digital Services."

“When we say Africa is blessed, it is not only in its mineral resources endowment but of youthful human resource capacity doing fantastic innovative jobs in nation building”, said the Chief Architect and President at InnovationBed.Africa, Mr. Emmanuel Amos.

“Nigeria has been the core pilot nation for the Innovationbed initiative as one of its flagship programmes: The Periscope session will field the above ambassadors so the audience can have a first-hand experience of practical solutions offering fixes to some sector challenges that conferences are always fond of speaking about rather that showing answers in practical terms,” he said.

Innovationbed Periscope at 
ModiTECH’19 will deal specifically on homegrown apps in the Health and Life Style sector, Environment and Green Energy Sector, E-Commerce & Business Sector and E-Learning & Education Sector.

Mobile and Disruptive Technology Forum (ModiTECH’19), an initiative of TechEconomy.ng in collaboration with CommunicationsWeek, in this maiden edition, aims at pushing for “The Power of Digital Services” by disrupting existing technologies for the advancement of the economy at large.

Organisers said it promises to make a difference as ground-breaking solution shall be unveiled along many dimensions of the Forum.

2018 NITMA prize: Emembolu on top 5, voting to end Nov. 14 - ITREALMS

The chief executive officer (CEO), Crestsage Limited, Mr. Charles Emembolu has been listed among the top five for the 2018 Information Technology (IT) Personality of the Year category of the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), reports ITREALMS.

Others include the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) Power soft Integrated Solutions Limited, Adedoyin Odunfa – MD/CEO Digital Jewels Limited, Mr. Peter Arogundade – Managing Director Sidmach Technologies and Mr. Tunde Badejo – MD/CEO Soft Alliance and Resources Limited.

Confirming this to ITREALMS in Lagos, NCS President, Prof. Adesola Aderounmu, said that voting has commenced since November 1, and enjoined Nigerians and especially NCS members vote for the candidate of their choice.

He pointed out that the IT Personality Year Award also known as the NCS President’s award will acknowledge and celebrate individuals that have excelled in our tech sector during the year.

Further, ITREALMS gathered that other individuals and organizations would be recognized and honoured with Special Recognition Awards for their undeniable and huge contributions in the IT and related areas.

Whereas the Interest Groups of NCS, the President said, would also present their awards within their core areas.

“Long service awards will be given to NCS Secretariat staff who have met the requirements and demonstrated diligence and commitment in carrying out their functions,” Aderounmu said.

NCS lists top 5 IT Personalities, voting commences - ITREALMS

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has shortlisted the top 5 contestants in the 2018 Information Technology (IT) Personality of the Year category of the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), reports ITREALMS.

Revealing this to ITREALMS in Lagos, NCS President, Prof. Adesola Aderounmu, said that voting has commenced to pick the best among equals by members of NCS strictly.

He also noted that the IT Personality Year Award also known as the NCS President’s award will acknowledge and celebrate individuals that have excelled in our tech sector during the year.

“In 2018, nominees for this most prestigious award are: Mr. Charles Emembolu – CEO Crestsage Limited, Mr. Adebayo Atekoja – MD/CEO Power soft Integrated Solutions Limited, Adedoyin Odunfa – MD/CEO Digital Jewels Limited, Mr. Peter Arogundade – Managing Director Sidmach Technologies and Mr. Tunde Badejo – MD/CEO Soft Alliance and Resources Limited,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede are to headline honourary fellowships at the 2018 National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), reports ITREALMS.

Confirming this to ITREALMS, the National President of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Prof Adesola Aderounmu, whose organization hosts NITMA, said the duo will be honoured for their dedication and exemplary service to Information Technology (IT) growth and development in Nigeria.

“Honorary Fellowship will be conferred on the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede for their dedication and exemplary service to IT growth and development in Nigeria,” he said.

This, he said, is in line with the advocacy efforts of NCS to achieve sustainable development in Nigeria through Information Technology, NCS promotes excellence and significant impact.

“I urge you to join NCS to celebrate the champions who are using technology to change society for good,” the president said.

Yearly, he recalled that NCS recognizes, celebrates and rewards outstanding excellence and exceptional contributions in the Information Technology field through the unique national platform NITMA provides.
