Chairman of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Limited, Aliko Dangote, made this assertion during his keynote address at a summit held in Lagos by the Crude Oil Refinery Owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN). The event attracted top government officials and key stakeholders from the midstream and downstream sectors.

The Federal Government has announced that the commencement of petroleum lifting from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals marks a return to industrialisation and local refining in Nigeria.This announcement came weekend, as a fleet of trucks from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), began transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the world's largest single-train refinery, located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
