EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian telecoms operators plan ₦3.99trn infrastructure injection - ITREALMS

To solidify Nigeria’s digital economy, telecommunications operators under the umbrella of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) have committed to a massive two-year capital expenditure (CapEx) plan totaling ₦3.99 trillion across 2025 and 2026, reports ITREALMS.

Speaking at an address before the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), ALTON Chairman Engr. Gbenga Adebayo disclosed that following pivotal government intervention in 2025, specifically a strategic tariff adjustment that restored financial sustainability; Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and tower infrastructure companies injected roughly ₦2.13 trillion in CapEx last year alone.

Fear of Monkey Pox injection envelopes Anambra: Pupils reject Army free medical outreach

Some school pupils in Anambra State on Wednesday rejected the Nigerian Army free medical outreach forcing the schools to close earlier, reports ITRealms.

These pupils, ITRealms gathered include students from both primary and school schools were seen basically running home to dodge being injected the alleged ‘MonkeyPox’ virus.

Correspondent reports that  all schools shut Wednesday afternoon as the Nigerian Army Medical team were alleged to being forcing students to take undisclosed injection, hence, students were asked to go home before now.

“Students were now asked to go home immediately,” an eye witnessed to ITRealms at Nnewi in Anambra State.

Our source also noted that all the primary and secondary schools in Oraukwu, Abatete, Adazi Ani, Neni and other neighbouring towns closed all the schools and children were seen running home to save their lives.

In Onitsha, the case was reportedly not different as a trader told correspondent to go approach his children school and take them home.

Our source had declared to ITRealms “Whether or not its fake If you have any kids in any school in Awada, better go and carry them to avoid any story... Later we go hear the real gist.”

Meanwhile ITRealms  gathered that there has been some WhatsApp messages being shared alleged that the Army Free Medical Service to old people at a field in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State was a ploy by alleged Boko Haram soldiers to infect the South East.

Also the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Imo State chapter, has warned the general public to be mindful of any unauthorized ‘immunization’ saying there is no official approval for any form of immunization to prevent any killer disease in children that is ongoing in the state.

A press statement purportedly endorsed by the Secretary, NMA Imo State Chapter, Dr. Dike Victor and made available to ITRealms, said that as a result, parents and teachers are advised not to submit their wards to persons or group of persons for any purported form of immunization.

This, he said, was on the backdrop of alarm being raised about "forced immunization"  in some places in the state on Wednesday 11th October, 2017.

However, the Nigerian Army has denied any allegation of plan to spread or inject any virus as part of the free medical outreach.

Operation Crocodile Smile: FG denies alleged injection of Monkey Pox virus

The Federal Government (FG) has described as fake and sinister the report that the outbreak of Monkey Pox in some parts of the country resulted from the alleged free medical care by the government in the affected areas, especially by the Nigerian Army under its “operation crocodile smile II” reports ITRealms.

A press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Nigerians should disregard the report which, apparently, is being spread by some unscrupulous persons to fit into a sinister agenda. 

''The Federal Government has not conducted any free medical service or care in either Bayelsa or Rivers state, as alleged in the fake report being circulated. So that could not have been the cause of the outbreak of Monkey Pox in both states.

"Monkey Pox is a virus found only in monkeys and it is rare in human beings. It belongs to the same family as Chicken Pox and Smallpox. 

''It is suspected that someone may have contacted it by eating monkey meat, thus triggering the current outbreak," the Minister said. 

He assured that no effort will be spared in curtailing the spread of the disease.

Expert expresses worry over phobia for insulin injection by diabetic patients

Dr. Sule Bathner, a Consultant Endocrinologist with the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, has expressed concern over the phobia for insulin injection by diabetic patients, ITRealms reports.

While speaking to news men in Bauchi on Saturday during the monthly enlightenment meeting of Bauchi State chapter of Diabetes Association of Nigeria, the consultant observed that the phobia had resulted in some patients rejecting the insulin medication or defaulting in treatment.

He said that the insulin treatment was highly reliable, especially in cases where the need for its application had become necessary.

Speaking further, ITRealms gathered, the medical expert explained that during a recent meeting of World Diabetes Congress in India, which he attended, he noticed that most developed countries applied insulin in managing the ailment.

“The problem we have here is that most people believe that once insulin had been prescribed, it means the condition had advanced, and fear sets in immediately, insulin injection can be recommended and withdrawn when the need arises, just like any other diabetes drug, and not necessarily an indication of advancement in ailment,” he said.

Bathner also cautioned patients from relying on traditional medicine sellers, especially those claiming to have a permanent cure for the ailment, learnt ITRealms.
