A Computer Science graduate from Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Adebanjo Oluwagbenga turned Chief Chef of Adorable Diadem Empire, Lagos, told ITREALMS' GBEMI OMOTOSO how he is his passion excites him, and urged colleagues to pay attention to social media.

How did you get into the baking industry?

It began with a passion back then in 2008, then I watched my Aunt baked daily because she runs fast food as at then. It wasn't that she sat me down to teach me, but I derived pleasure in baking each time I saw her working; I think creativity triggered my spirit into baking.

The founder and chairman of Unubiko Foundation, Chief James Ume, has said philanthropy was about serving humanity and not personal attention seeking.

Ume, who is a nominee for The Sun Newspapers Humanitarian Service Icon Award for 2022, made this known on Sunday in Abuja when he played host to a delegation of the newspaper’s management led by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Unuoha Ukeh.

The chief executive officer of Kontemporary Konsulting and founder, Africa ICT Alliance (AfICTA), Dr Jimson Olufuye, has called on African policy makers to pay attention to core values to engender critical development for the continent, reports ITREALMS.

Speaking at the just concluded Africa Geospartial Data and Internet Conference in Accra, Ghana on Internet Governance for all round Development (IG4D), Olufuye said that shaping the Africa’s digital future requires that policy makers should pay serious attention to some core values such that geospatial among other developmental data to pave ways for open and transparency society.

This, he also said would obviously make access for innovation and creativity to thrive for the continuous growth and development of African economies.

“And for more jobs to be created for our large youth population,” he said.

By paying attention to policy making, Olufuye, who is one of the five global business representatives to the United Nations Commission for Science and Technology for Development Working Group on Enhanced Cooperation (WGEC 1.0 & 2.0) pointed out that it will propel the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals on the continent of Africa and bridge the digital divide.

On what is the nexus of geospatial data, the Internet Governance and the SDGs, Olufuye emphasized that geospatial data has everything to do with cadastral information of a country.

“It is a major national resource data which has the potential if well managed to be the fulcrum of prosperity of any nation,” he said.

Olufuye, who equally is the immediate past chair AfICTA, said that with available Internet tools, this resource could be better managed in an open, transparent and accountable manner for the benefit of the people.

“So, the nexus of geospatial data and Internet Governance is the values that drive them to enable benefits for all,” he said, stressing that these values include openness, transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, effectiveness, sustainability, responsiveness, peace, trust to name a few.

With the holistic use of geospatial data engendered by Internet Governance principles, he said, it would be possible that citizens could derive better values for their land thereby boosting their purchasing power with the attendant eradication of poverty, hunger, ill-health, illiteracy, gender inequality, and clean water and sanitation would be available.

“Goal 15: Life on Land and goal 17: Stronger stakeholder Partnership are benefits that would also result in proactive geospatial data governance,” he submitted.

Onitsha-Enugu road to receive attention in 2018 - Buhari

The President, Muhammadu Buhari has assured that the dilapidated Onitsha-Enugu Expressway would receive attention this years, reports ITRealms.

Making this disclosure in his new year message broadcasted in Nigeria on Monday, January 1, 2018, President Buhari said that Onitsha-Enugu Expressway is among the 25 major highways to be funded under the N100b SUKUK facility.

“Each geo-political zone will benefit by an equal amount of N16.67b,” he declared, and also listed the benefiting major highways to receive special attention to include the Enugu – Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Way, Oyo – Ogbomosho, Ofusu – Ore – Ajebandele – Shagamu, Yenagoa Road Junction – Kolo Otuoke – Bayelsa Palm, Kaduna Eastern Bypass, Dualization of Kano – Maiduguri Road, Dualization of Abuja – Lokoja – Benin Road, and Dualization of Suleja – Minna Road.

In addition, he said, Federal Government has approved work to start on the re-construction of Abuja – Kaduna –Zaria–Kano road which is in a state of disrepair.

“Work will soon start and is expected to be completed in 2019,” he said.

Buhari equally blasted some oil marketers who took pride afflict difficulties on Nigerians especially at this period of Christmas and New Year, described the situation as “unfortunate and sad.”

“Instead of showing love, companionship and charity, some of our compatriots chose this period to inflict severe hardship on us all by creating unnecessary fuel scarcity across the country,” he said.

According to him, the consequence was that not many could travel and the few who did had to pay exorbitant transport fares, describing that as “unacceptable given that NNPC had taken measures to ensure availability at all depots. I am determined to get to the root of this collective blackmail of all Nigerians and ensure that whichever groups are behind this manipulated hardship will be prevented from doing so again.”

Buhari further promised to get to the root of such unpatriotic attempt to divert his administration from the course they set for themselves.

“Our government's watch word and policy thrust is 'Change'. We must change our way of doing things or we will stagnate and be left behind in the race to lift our people out of poverty and into prosperity,” he assured.
