The Lagos State Government has proclaimed restriction of vehicular movement in the State on Saturday July 22, 2017 in view of the elections holding across the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State, reports ITRealms.

The State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, to ITRealms in a press statement that the restriction of movement across the State will be enforced between 8am and 2pm on Saturday July 22, to allow for a smooth conduct of the polls and unhindered participation.

Tribunal nullifies Wike’s election, calls for re-run

The electoral tribunal sitting in Abuja, Saturday, October 24, nullified the election of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, even as it ordered that a re-run be conducted in the state, ITRealms reports.

Wike’s election was being challenged at the tribunal in a petition filed by Dakubu Peterside, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC alongside its gubernatorial candidate had been contesting the declaration of Governor Wike by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the Rivers state governorship poll in the April 11 gubernatorial election.

ITRealms learnt that Governor Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in substance and merit.

INEC had declared Wike who contested on the platform of the PDP as the winner of the election having scored a total of 1,029,102 votes as against Peterside’s 124,896.

However, the APC and Peterside in their petition filed on May 3, had urged the tribunal to nullify the election in the entire 23 local government areas of the state and order fresh one on the account of alleged substantial non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act and Manual for Election Officers 2015, ITRealms gathered.

Boko Haram inmate transfer protest in Onitsha, traders allege Presidency plot

The largest market in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, the Onitsha Main Market in Anambra State was on Saturday shut over fear of Boko Haram attacks, reports ITRealms.

This is coming as some sources said the shutting down of Main Market Onitsha was in protest of the alleged plans by the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) to relocate some Boko Haram inmates to Anambra State, especially to the Onitsha Prison.

Reports reaching our news desk indicated that the closure of Main Market on Saturday, June 27, 2015, was actually in protest of Boko Haram alleged presence in Anambra State.

ITRealms gathered that the common understanding of the Onitsha traders was that President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly threatened to send the Boko Haram inmates to Onitsha as part of punishment for not supporting his candidacy during the 2015 elections.

According to most the traders who spoke to ITRealms on anonymity, alleged that Buhari said he will revisit the Igbos with Boko Haram, starting with Onitsha, the hub of commercial activities in the South East.

Currently, there are four facilities of the Nigerian Prisons Service in Anambra State out of the 240 located across the country, while Adamawa tops by 17 prison facilities.

The NPS is presently presided over by Controller General, Dr.-Peter-Ezenwa-Ekpendu following the confirmation of his appointment early last December by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Dr. Ekpendu, hails from Ibeku Okwuato in Mbaise Local Government area of Imo State and before his present appointment as the Controller General was Deputy Controller General (Administration) since 2012.

However, News Express, reports that Boko Haram have for six years unleashed mayhem on the Muslim-dominated Northern Nigeria, but if this allegation is eventually confirmed to be true, then it’s clear that the terrorists have finally spread their fangs of destruction across the nation.

Last year, not less than 400 members of the deadly Islamic sect were arrested in Lagos State by security operatives who acted on tip-off.

Later in the same past year, some 383 sojourners were arrested in Abia State on suspicion that some of them are members of the militants which was later confirmed by Abia State security personnel.

With this latest development, it seems that the Islamists murderers are poised to export their terrorist acts to the largely Christian South.
