NCC, REA sign landmark MoU to power telecoms infrastructure with renewable energy - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the deployment of sustainable digital infrastructure across Nigeria by integrating off-grid renewable energy solutions into telecommunications networks, reports ITREALMS.

The partnership was officially sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the NCC–REA Stakeholder Workshop held at the NCC Annex Office Auditorium in Mbora, Abuja.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has taken a significant step towards accelerating energy access in Nigeria by signing grants with eight renewable energy companies under the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-Up (DARES) Project, reports ITREALMS.

This initiative, funded by the World Bank, 
ITREALMS gathered, aims to provide reliable and affordable electricity to 17.5 million Nigerians.

NASENI, REA to deploy renewable technologies for rural electrification - ITREALMS

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr Khalil Halilu and the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Mr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad have agreed to work together to deploy NASENI Solar resources and other renewable energy technologies, to increase electricity supply to Nigeria’s rural areas.

This commitment was the outcome of discussions between the two chief executives in Abuja on Friday September 15, 2023, when the EVC/CEO of NASENI visited the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) office as part of his efforts to engage with stakeholders to promote the adoption of NASENI’s technologies.
