Africa’s leading independent aerial fibre optic network infrastructure provider, Phase3 Telecom, has reiterated its long-term commitment to expanding broadband penetration across Nigeria, reports ITREALMS.
The pledge was made by the Executive Chairman of Phase3 Telecom, Mr. Stanley Jegede, during a courtesy visit by the Executive Committee of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) to the company’s Abuja headquarters on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Reflecting on the company’s 23-year journey, Mr. Jegede emphasized that Phase3 Telecom has consistently prioritized the development of critical digital infrastructure to support mobile network operators, educational institutions, and the broader business ecosystem.
“We are a responsible organization with a 23-year track record of enabling connectivity,” Jegede stated. “Our primary focus has been to bridge the broadband gap. While our infrastructure often operates behind the scenes, it serves as the backbone that mobile networks and businesses across the 36 states of the federation rely on daily.”
Mr. Jegede further highlighted the intersection between robust digital infrastructure and national socio-economic growth.
He underscored the importance of access to accurate, credible information in an increasingly digital society, noting that Phase3 Telecom values the role of professional bodies like GOCOP in fostering responsible journalism.
“Good journalism is a cornerstone of national development,” Jegede said, stressing "As we continue to expand the digital connectivity that powers daily life and economic activity, we remain committed to supporting institutions that ensure the information consumed by the public is factual and credible.”
Responding to the Chairman’s remarks, the President of GOCOP, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, mni, acknowledged Phase3 Telecom’s role in the sector and solicited the company’s support for the Guild’s upcoming 10th AGM, scheduled for October 8, 2026, in Lagos.
Nmodu described GOCOP as a coalition of seasoned online publishers dedicated to ethical standards and investigative reporting. “Our members are committed to reliable and accurate reportage.
Sustained investment in media organizations is vital for strengthening investigative journalism and public-interest reports,” Nmodu said. “Supporting quality journalism ultimately bolsters democracy and promotes the accountability essential for good governance.”
The GOCOP delegation included the Guild’s General Secretary, Mr. Sufuyan Ojeifo, and the Publicity Secretary, Ms. Kemi Yesufu.
