Anyone who has ever passed any of the major bridges in Lagos must have encountered open defecation in action. It is rampant. It should not be allowed to continue. It offends the senses. It pollutes the environment. It adversely affects human health. It should be stopped.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says the rate of open defecation in Nigeria had remained steady at 23 per cent with an estimated 46 million Nigerians still defecating in the open. It is an eyesore that needs to be stopped.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote has declared that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and local content are not mutually exclusive, reports ITREALMS.
Wabote in his keynote to the 9th RealNews lecture held at Lagos Sheraton Hotels Ikeja noted that no nation is blessed with the full list of natural resources and none can produce every product it requires.

I have listened to the narratives of the Lagos State Government through one of its Learned Senior Counsel at the #EndSARS Panel, to the effect that Nigerians should reject the report of the Panel because I signed it, since I was not present at some of the sittings of the Panel.
I served on the Panel on the mandate of the Governor of Lagos State, who told me on telephone that I was chosen to represent CIVIL SOCIETY. I requested for and approval was granted in writing, that my appointment was on a part-time basis. Furthermore, the Governor told me that two members were chosen to represent civil society on the Panel so that one of us would always be present at the Panel to excuse the absence of the other. I accepted the appointment in good faith, to serve the people, to calm frayed nerves at the time and also to restore normalcy to Lagos State. So, at all times, I functioned in partnership with my colleague from civil society, and there was no major sitting of the Panel in which both of us were absent.

The roles of traditional institutions as custodians of cultural values in the country, has led to some the staff of the National Traditional Council for Traditional Rulers in Nigeria (NTCRN) being recently selected among the beneficiaries of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) capacity building on e-government, reports ITREALMS.
The Director-General, NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, said, “the exercise is being carried out with a view to ensuring successful implementation of the e-Government Master Plan as well as inculcating the use of Information Technology in all government activities.”

The Nigerian children and young people feel under the most pressure to succeed globally, according to a new international survey by UNICEF and Gallup, released ahead of World Children’s Day, marked annually on 20 November.
Data from the survey reveals that young people in Nigeria are facing a mental health challenge, with 1 in 6 young Nigerians aged 15 -24 saying they often feel depressed, have little interest in doing things, or are worried, nervous or anxious.
