As the global community commemorates World Water Day 2026, Fairaction Nigeria has called for a technology-driven approach to ending 'water poverty,' unveiling its Sustainable Smart Water Infrastructure (SWIs) as a blueprint for climate-resilient utility management in rural Africa, reports ITREALMS.Speaking at a keynote address in Arulogun, Akinyele Local Government Area, the National Coordinator of Fairaction Nigeria, Dr. David Tola Winjobi, emphasized that traditional water projects are no longer sufficient to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.

Cote d'Ivoire hosts African research summit powered by Glo
The acclaimed West Africa's fully integrated telecommunications service provider, Globacom,
is the telecommunication partner of the
third annual conference and fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the West and
Central African Research and Educational Network (WACREN) holding in Abidjan,
Cote d’Ivoire, reports ITRealms.
The two-day event which ends today, Friday, March 31s, ITRealms gathered would be an assemblage
of policy and decision-makers, scientists, researchers, network managers,
collaboration specialists, e-learning, identity and access management experts,
connectivity and equipment providers from across Africa and the rest of the
world are expected at the summit sponsored by Globacom.
The theme of the conference is "Catalyzing Quality
Higher Education and Research".
Globacom
in a statement said the theme will offer a platform to generate multi-faceted
ideas to elevate the standard of education and advance the cause of research
and development across the African continent, especially within the West
African sub-region.
“Globacom appreciates the value of research and development
as a critical success factor to the development of West Africa. This is why we
are backing this summit to the hilt,” the telecom company said in a statement
from its head office in Lagos. “It is simply apposite that we are sponsoring
this summit that is aimed at advancing education and research in Africa,” the
company added.
Globacom said it would seize the occasion of the summit to
showcase some of its cutting-edge solutions that can assist educational
institutions to stay ahead in the field of research and development.
The company said it would, for instance, be delighted to
demonstrate its capabilities to link up educational institutions in the West
African sub-region with their peers within and outside the continent via
fibre-optic cable to facilitate research collaboration.
“We will also showcase to institutions and business
organisations some of our solutions that can significantly cut their
operational expenditure, improve efficiency, and positively impact their bottom
lines,” said Folu Aderibigbe, the company's Enterprise Group Commercial
Coordinator.

Leading Children Television series, ‘Kids Say the
Darndest Things’ powered by Cliqlite from Etisalat Nigeria, is set to commence
nationwide airing from the 20th of August of the season 2 edition for the
viewing pleasures of families, reports ITRealms.
The nationwide airing, ITRealms gathered will be on both
terrestrial and satellite TV stations and will provide a gateway into the minds
of children, featuring enthralling views on topical issues, rib-cracking
imitation of parents’ mannerisms and insights into their future among others.
Among the terrestrial and satellite TV Stations on which
Kids Say the Darndest Things 2 will be aired include NTA Network (Sat.9 am),
STV (Sat. 9.30am) and Africa Magic, Channel 154 (Sun. 4 pm and 5pm on
Wednesday). Others are WAPTV (Sat. 9.30 am) OGTV (Sat. 5.30pm), PRTV (Sat.
7.30pm), ABS (Sat. 5.30 pm) and Royal Roots TV (Sat. 9 am & 4 pm on
Sunday).
Speaking at a premier of the 2nd season of KSDT held at
Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Lekki, Manager, Sponsorships, Etisalat Nigeria, Orah
Egwu, promised that this new season will be a blockbuster of exciting moments.
She also spoke about the introduction of a new segment primarily dedicated to
celebrating exceptionally talented children.
The 2nd season of KSDT will be anchored by actor, producer,
Disc Jockey and America's favorite sidekick on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tony
Okungbowa. Okungbowa starred in, and produced the film, "Mother of
George", "Restless City" and the soon to be released, “Echo
Park” which was an official selection at the Los Angeles Film fest 2014.
The television show, which has enjoyed popularity and rave
reviews in various markets like Australia, Singapore, India and Italy, was
launched in Nigeria during the first quarter of 2015, with the original format
adapted to the Nigerian market. The theme of the show is “Let Your Little Star
Shine Bright”.

Etisalat sponsored kiddies show returns for season 2
The Etisalat Nigeria supported children television show series ‘Kids Say the Darndest Things’ powered by Cliqlite, has returned for
season 2, reports ITRealms.
The Season 2 auditions, ITRealms gathered would hold on Saturday, 28th
May 2016 at the Ultima Studios, Lekki, Lagos.
Head, Events & Sponsorships, Etisalat Nigeria, Modupe Thani, the
company’s association with the show for a second season is a platform for
children to express themselves and give them a voice. This season, the focus is to encourage
parents to allow their talented children to shine as stars.

Things, we are connecting with Nigerian children and their parents and

The maiden edition of the show was hosted by actor, producer, Disc Jockey

Google dangles $125,000 on Africa Connected, invites entries
Google is dangling a total of $125,000 on Africa connected, a project on powered by the web, thus inviting entries for the prize with deadlines October 31, 2013.
According to Affiong Osuchukwu, the Google Lead for the Africa Connected initiative, this is the final month for submissions to Google’s new competition ‘Africa Connected: Success stories powered by the web’.
Osuchukwu also expressed the hope that Google finds the most inspiring stories in Africa about how the web has transformed the lives and business ventures of its users - Africa, get connected!
Explaining that the five successful entrants will win $25,000 each, and will also have the opportunity to work with a Google sponsor over a six-month period to further their business success.
"Entries close on 31st October 2013 - categories include Education; Entertainment/Arts/Sports; Technology; Community and NGOs; and Small Businesses," Osuchukwu affirmed in a press statement made available to ITRealms.
As noted by Osuchukwu, from Madagascar to Morocco, from big metropoles to rural villages, from photographers to community activists, Google have been received hundreds of submissions about how people are using the web and technology to do cool and extraordinary things to overcome hurdles and be successful.
"There’s less than a month to go before the competition closes, so if you have a great story that you haven’t yet told us about, we definitely want to hear from you” Osuchukwu said.
For Juliet Ehimuan, the Country Manager, Google Nigeria, commented, she looks forward to seeing some exciting Nigerian stories.
“We’re hoping to see strong Nigerian representation in the competition entries. We already know about many inspiring success stories, like those of Asurf and Afrinolly, but we know there are lots more out there. The judges are looking forward to seeing a diversity of submissions, including from technology, agriculture, energy, fashion, education and entertainment," she enthused.
She cited an instance with the great work done by Chike Maduegbuna, owner and creator of Afrinolly, based in Nigeria. Afrinolly is a popular mobile app, which lets people across the continent watch short videos on their mobile devices.
"This app has transformed Nigeria’s Nollywood film industry by creating a movie trailer platform for new audiences. With over 3 million downloads already since its launch in August 2011, Chike hopes this will create a platform that connects aspiring film professionals with global film industry veterans," she emphasized.
