A total of 93,469,008 registered voters are expected to vote at the fast-coming 2023 general elections in Nigeria, reports ITREALMS.
Disclosing this Tuesday at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said that they expect some 93,469,008 registered voters to participate in electing a President, 28 State Governors and 1,462 legislators (109 Senators, 360 members of House of Representatives and 993 members of State Houses of Assembly).

Why we insist our pupils elect their captains, prefects - M.D School - ITREALMS
ITREALMS:
Head of School, M.D Nursery and Primary School, New Oko Oba, Lagos, Olushola Akaiso has explained why it was fun last week Thursday as they conducted elections for class captains and other school perfects, reports ITREALMS.
Speaking on the development, Akaisolt stated that the era where teachers just pick pupils to be in charge of a particular position has become outdated since the pupils needed to be involved in the process of selecting their leaders.
Akaiso said this will enable them hone their skills of public speaking, confidence and also teach them the ability to compete.
Akaiso revealed that the tradition of the pupils selecting their leaders themselves is an old one that started since the inception of the school and there are processes that must be rigorously followed before one can be allowed to stand for election.
She said: “There is a nomination form, which they collect with the consent of the parent.
“They fill and submit it with their manifestos.
“They do their campaigns.
“Some do fliers and banners and they move around the classes and assembly grounds canvassing for votes and support from their colleagues and there was a primary election and one must meet the academic requirement of at least 70 per cent to participate.”
Akaiso also disclosed that teachers try as much as possible not to be partisan in the “political process”.
A parent, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed that even when the pupils campaign banners fall off, the teachers do not try to pick them up so as not to be seen as “being a fan to a particular candidate”.
The parent said although, the pupils are allowed to campaign, they are not allowed to do so with any form of inducements like storybook and chocolates.
Those elected top run the school during Thursday’s election were:

Head Girl: Success Ferdinand

Los Angeles Superior Court judge: Group canvasses vote for Ibisi
A group of Nigerians are canvassing for votes to elect Mr.
Eric O. Ibisi into the Los Angeles Superior Court as a judge, reports ITRealms.
Mr. Ibisi whose judicial seat number is 120, ITRealms gathered, would be facing electorates on June 7, 2016 to determine his
promotion.
ITRealms also gathered that Ibisi has been temporary judge
for the Los Angeles County Superior Court for 20 years.
He equally comes to the election with 30 years as Attorney
and Litigator in Criminal Law, Civil Law and Personal Injury.
According to President, Anambra State Association (ASA) in
Southern California (ASA-SC), Hon. Larry Nwafor, told ITRealms why Mr. Eric
Ibisi is needed on the bench of the Superior Court of Los Angeles.
He noted, there are
politics going on in the judiciary system in the United States, especially in
Los Angeles and urged Nigerians to queue behind, Mr. Ibisi.
“Let us come out en-mass
to support one of our own. He has a proven track record and has been tested,”
he said.
Nwafor also decried
the status of Ibisi being temporary judge for 20 years.
“Can you imagine
Temporary Judge for 20years .... We must do something folks. June 7th is the day. Vote! Vote!! Vote!!!” he
enjoined, especially by aligning with this hashtag #WeMustMakeThisHappen.

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd
President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has been urged to put his
priorities right by making Information and Communications Technology first in
his developmental agenda for the country, ITRealms reports.
Chairman of the Association of Licensed
Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Gbenga Adebayo, speaking to
newsmen in Lagos recently, stated that in transforming the economy and Nigeria,
in the dispensation of governance, local content should be key.
Adebayo further said that “The new
administration will do well by making local content a key issue. Protection of
local industry and creating a very strong local content policy in ICT will make
the sector more vibrant and further contribute to economic development,” ITRealms learnt.
On his part, Chairman of Mobile
Software Solution and a former President of the Institute of Software
Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Chris Uwaje, said President Buhari should
endeavour to give weight to the legislation on national software policy for
Nigeria to drive the Local Content Act 2010.
He
stated that the President-elect, Buhari should be viewed as a CEO, challenged
with the task of governing the 180 million Nigerians, adding that he can only
succeed in the new mission if he applies Infotech, supported by IT professionals.
“Buhari should ensure that all boards of the Federal, State and Local Government Areas with the executives, judiciary and legislature are incorporated to ensure the appointment of IT experts on their boards for him to succeed”, he stated. Speaking to ITRealms, Uwaje said the president-elect must establish a litmus package for the IT industry so as to be able to build commensurate capacity for global competitiveness.
