NITMA2022: Funke Opeke emerges IT Personality of the year, 55 fellows inducted - ITREALMS

The founder and chief executive officer of MainOne, Ms Funke Opeke, has emerged the Information Technology (IT) Personality of the year and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu became the Digital Governor of the year, at the 2022 Nigeria IT Merit Awards, reports

Their emergence was sequel to the 2022 Nigeria IT Merit Awards hosted by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) at the Music Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Center, Onikan Lagos on Thursday with creme dele creme of IT industry in attendance.

Ike Nnamani, Opeke, Coker for NITRA breakfast meeting

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of some of the nation’s leading Data Centre Service providers- Medallion Communications, MainOne and Rack Centre will be guests to the Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association (NITRA)’s February 2018 Edition of the monthly interactive session with ICT industry helmsmen tagged: ‘Breakfast Meeting With The CEO’ reports ITRealms.

The CEOs, Mr. Ike Nnamani (Medallion), Ms Funke Opeke (MainOne) and Mr. Tunde Coker (Rack Centre) have all indicated interest to be physically present at the Breakfast meeting which will have over 50 journalists from various media organizations in attendance.

As the world increasingly exploits information technology for innovative services and competitive advantage, the data centre is playing a rapidly expanding role in job creation and preservation as well as the overall economic recovery.

Nigeria has witnessed significant investments in data centres being established in the country. And it has often been argued that the availability of world class Data centres in Nigeria is critical infrastructure required for the implementation of the country’s Broadband initiatives.

Hence, the need for the industry journalist association to convene players in this segment of the nation’s ICT sub sector of the economy at this edition of its breakfast series on the theme “Data Centre Operation In Nigeria: Impacts, Benefits And Challenges In a Knowledge Economy.”

The event slated to hold on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the R-Café Hotel on Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, will feature MainOne, as a leading connectivity solutions company, operator of MDX-i Lekki Data Centre.

MainOne apart from being the premier Tier III certified Data Centre in West Africa; it is the most connected Data Centre facility in the region, with access to fibre connectivity from all the major ISPs and telecommunications operators in the region.

Opeke, MainOne CEO tops EMEA influencer at DataCloud Europe

The chief executive officer of the acclaimed West Africa’s premier connectivity and data center solutions company, MainOne, Ms. Funke Opeke has been nominated as one of 50 top influencers transforming the data center and cloud landscape in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) reports ITRealms.

The DataCloud Europe conference, ITRealms gathered attracted over 1800 data center and cloud executives from over 60 countries as well as over 90 exhibiting companies, is the foremost networking event for data center players in EMEA.

During the conference, Gbenga Adegbiji, General Manager of MainOne’s MDXi Data Centers, joined an expert panel on the Africa Data Centre Leadership to discuss strategies for achieving improved Data Center and Cloud penetration across the continent. 

Adegbiji asserted that despite the limitations, the opportunities for data center growth are enormous given the upsurge in the use of ICT services and mobile broadband, the migration towards a digital economy with Internet underpinning a lot of services across the region, better adoption of e-Governance, e-Health and e-Commerce initiatives and businesses looking to host their growing digital information locally.

According to him, MainOne is anticipating the growing demand and has started building its second Tier III+ data center in Sagamu, a blooming industrial cluster in South-West Nigeria.
