Okunbor: Shell committed to energy security in Nigeria - ITREALMS

Shell will continue to power progress in the drive for energy security in Nigeria through its businesses in the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream and Renewables sectors, Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC,) Osagie Okunbor said yesterday in Lagos.

In remarks delivered on his behalf by Exploration Manager Gogo Eneyok at the opening of the 42nd Annual International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE,) Okunbor said the range of the Shell businesses were integrated across the energy value chain and working hard to address the challenges as captured in the theme of the event: “Resolving the Nigeria Energy Trilemma: Energy Security, Sustainable Growth & Affordability.”

Shell's Osagie Okunbor optimism on Nigeria’s Oil and Gas future @Economic Summit - ITREALMS

The Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) and Chairman of Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor, shared an optimistic outlook on the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry during a panel session at    the just concluded Nigeria Economic Summit in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme “Fuelling Growth: The Future of Oil and Gas,” Okunbor addressed concerns surrounding the industry, stressing it is far from declining. “With the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act and other supporting regulations, the industry is in a much better place,” he remarked. He also noted that recent presidential directives have introduced much-needed coherence to the sector.

Shell, Okunbor receive indigenous PETAN award for excellence - ITREALMS

The Managing Director, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN), Osagie Okunbor, has received an “Award of Excellence to an Astute and Visionary Technocrat” from the newly instituted executive leadership of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).
Okunbor received the award in a short ceremony in Lagos, recently, where the PETAN executive, led by its chairman, Engineer Wole Ogunsanya, said “The award is to acknowledge Country Chair’s leadership of Shell and the long running relationship between PETAN, PETAN member companies and Shell.”

The Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN), Mr. Osagie Okunbor, has been named the sole recipient of the H. E. Dr Alirio Parra Lifetime Achievement Award in Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry for 2022.

Named in honour of the late Venezuelan Minister of Petroleum and one of the founding fathers of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the award is the most prestigious recognition for an individual or organisation who has made notable contributions to the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
